Had mine for a total of 4 days so far and a ton of issues. First it was freezing and I could move the cursor but nothing else was responding and now the HDD has died. Just replaced it with a drive from my other MBP and it appears to be working alright. I am thinking perhaps there was a bad batch of drives. Also my local Apple store (Shanghai) says they can't replace my Mac because it was bought in Hong Kong... I was like WTF... so will have to wait until they have the 750GB replacement drives in stock.

I have the 17" MBP with 750GB 5400RPM & 8GB of RAM

Minor issues.

2.2GHz 15 high-res antiglare with 8GB RAM.

Occasionally the wireless speed is rather slow. My best take on this so far is that it doesn't like to be really close to a router.

Also, after I installed the GFX switching control panel, the computer behaved rather oddly on going to sleep. I uninstalled, booted in safe mode and rebooted. Problem went away.

Very curious as to how a 2.3GHz one would behave comparatively speaking on heat, idle etc. The 2.2 has done well so far; it runs significantly cooler than my Early 2008, whether idle or under load.

I have a long list

Here is my issues list an d i think they are snow leopards faults rather than the hardwares:

wifi drop out issue: Every now and then i lose wifi connection and i have to try countless times and finally reboot to connect to the internet again

bluetooth multiple device issue: when i try to connect 2 bluetooth devices they stutter and die over time and i have to reduce the number down to 1 (i.e. you cant use a magic mouse together with a bluetooth speaker)

font management: It will not let you manage your fonts with fontexplorer X and it will force you to buy a new font manager and even then it will not recognize some fonts that were flawlessly recognized by Leopard

crashes: looks like apple decided to remind us of the old times when systems froze or crashed. how thoughtful. I never had a crash since forever and mbp 2011 with SL took be back in time.

a bit ignorant: sometimes the mbp will not respond to my commands. I need to double-click an icon or choose a menu item 2 or 3 times until it understands what i want it to do.

NTFS support: ok it can mount and read from NTFS volumes but it cant write back, nor can it format NTFS volumes. And whats worse is that it does not let you use NTFS utilities (which ran perfectly on Leopard) soooo you are stuck with its limited NTFS capabilities (which is a step back instead of a step forward because without those features you can at least use an NTFS utility on older systems)

phew... that felt good...

15" 2.3 w/ High-Res Anti-Glare, 8GB RAM.

No problems at all. No wi-fi issues whatsoever. No heat issues.

2011 13" base. Other than wifi dropping once in a great while it's been perfect. I have a gorgeous lappy bag enroute and 8 gigs of ram next check. Once 500gb ssd's are reasonable I will hit that too.

Love my 2.0. Upgraded to 8GB of ram. Everything else stock. Used for an audio workstation with Logic Pro 9 and Pro Tools 9. This laptop is a dream when it comes to horsepower. No problems.

Nobody is perfect...even Apple. However, for those small few that have had issues with their MBP I can show you 10x the amount of unhappy Dell, HP, and Toshiba users. Apple isn't number one in customer service for nothing...

Seriously, look at the HP, Dell, and Toshiba forums when you think Apple is screwing up too much. Those forums will make you appreciate the effort that Apple puts into their products.

-P

Yes, but you may also note that the incidences of people purchasing Dell, HP and Toshiba notebooks is exponentially higher.

I wouldn't be surprised if the failure rate is similar in terms of percentages, overall.

Not flaming here, but a bit of perspective wouldn't go amiss.

Another positive chime in here. 2.2/AG/8GB RAM/240GB Vertex 3. Zero issues. No Wi-Fi problems, no heat, no freezes...nothing.

Only nitpick is i got a machine that came with one SATA3 port instead of two.

Same here - 1 6gb sata port :( otherwise perfect!
