MBP 2021 16" keeps waking up external LG display

It didn't work for me. I mean... I tried to turn off both MX Keys for Mac and MX Master 3 (which are connected through Bluetooth) but the monitor is still randomly power on. Did the trick work for you? Is your MX Keys connected through Bluetooth?
It was, but after updating to macOS Ventura I experienced so many aggravating keystroke delays that I had to resort to using Logitech’s wireless USB dongle. (I avoided taking up one of the precious few usb-c ports on my MBP by plugging the dongle into the back of the LG monitor.)
Yes, turning off the keyboard worked for me, but maybe the usb dongle might work for you. I hope you find a solution.
I have a MX Master 2 and don’t have any issues. Maybe a rest of SMC and PRAM?
Yes, I am! However, the monitor is powering the Macbook too since I'm using USB-C to connect it.
I found the problem! I took a look at the system logs running
and I noticed some lines
and next to that some IPv6 complaints. So I turned off the IPv6 interface on the Macbook and now the monitor works perfectly.
My guess is the router Fritzbox I own tries to wakes the Macbook in order to configure the IPv6 interface.

I have the same issue, with an LG display. My display shut offs with the Mac, but then it turn on again while the Mac is still asleep. And it stays on forever.
@kamzata I'll try with disabling the network interface exposed by the display and then I'll try deactivating IPv6 as you suggested. Thanks.

Sadly, I celebrate too early... the problem is still there.
It works fine with my MacBook Pro Intel. I only get the problem with the MacBook Air M1.
On both, after the computer enters sleep mode, the display shut down then lights up. But on the Intel it says "No signal, entering energy saving mode…" and then shut off. On the M1, nothing happens the display just stays on.
I wonder if it a system setting or a hardware issue (M1).

I tried replicating the same setting I have from the Mac Intel to the M1, but still unsuccessful.
Yes. I also tried when keeping the MacBook Air closed and only using the external display. But no changes.
I have this issue since 2018 with a MacBook 16" Intel I9, then MacBook Air M1, and now with Air M2. LG support says "The monitor is not certificated for MacOS" but why do they ship an MacOS app with it?

Monitors:
BENQ EX2710U (connected via a usb-c to dp1.4 cable, no other peripherals)
LG 32UL750-B (connected via a usb-c to usb-c cable with power delivery, no other peripherals)
However, the issue disappears if connected via HDMI (either with a hub or adapter).
Never had this problem with a windows laptop, so I would conclude it's definitely the mac.
I really don't get those "just turn off your monitor" or "don't use power delivery" comments. For a "pro" laptop, its support for external monitor just does not match the price tag. (I recently got an M2 air which hits another issue)

Interesting. Maybe it has something to do with charging through USB-C. Seems like the Mac keeps sending the display a signal that prevents it from shutting off.
Of course, that's like wondering why you want to fix your car when you can just get a new pair of shoes. Or a horse. Whatever, people face challenges differently.
Nope, power delivery seems to be irrelevant. It occurs even when just using a usb-c to displayport cable (macbook not powered, no peripherals connected to neither macbook nor monitor). It seems macbook just refuses to stay dead asleep.
And I just reproduced the problem on Macbook Air M2.

I read somewhere that someone had luck disabling DisplayPort 1.4. My humble monitor could only disable DisplayPort 1.2, but I tried any way. Didn't work.

I gave up in the end. I just unplug it from the dock when I'm not using it. It's been almost a year since I've had this issue and clearly Apple doesn't give a crap about it.
They're looking for a solution where the products work as intended, which is fair given the price.
I don't believe there actually is such a solution, but this thread is clearly about figuring out if there is or isn't such a solution. If there isn't one, I'm sure the OP can figure out a workaround such as unplugging when not using, or turning the monitor off, on their own.
Of course there is a solution, since the problem seems specific to certain Macs/dipslays. I for example have the issue on one Mac but not the other.
And it seems I finally found a solution. I tried a bunch a different settings and suddenly… it works. I am still trying to figure out which settings actually got it working.
