My experience at McDonalds drive thru mirrors the experience of the OP. The equipment they had was clearly mobile, but they refused to pass it out the window and wanted me to hand my phone to them. The cashier looked at me like i was crazy when i said that it required my finger print to work.

Long story short, after a manager got involved, they admitted that it was their fault for a lack of training and given that it was my only form of payment I had with me, I got my meal for free (~$6.00).

I returned to this same drive thru location a few weeks later and they were ready to go and it was seamless just like the videos you see floating around.

Why not?

My credit card info was stolen at a restaurant (fast food sit down type). It seems I had a new baby I didn't know about and bought over $800 worth of stuff at the Babys R Us store. Same thing happened at a Hertz rental car place at the Tampa airport. By the time I hit the hotel in Orlando, I had gone on quite a shopping spree...

Title of of your thread makes it look like Apple failed.

Agree. Wanker click bait. You are dealing with McDonald's after all. I worked at a Burger King in high school and have to say that there aren't any geniuses that work there. I think it's part of some indoctrination program where you lose your soul after working their for a few months.

You become an automaton. You show up, punch the time clock, assume your position, disburse the fat sticks and mystery meat, you punch out, go home and try to remove that stench from you and your shoes... Eventually you discover that it's rather permanent and just live with it until your next fun filled shift.

Your failure is in making a point of it.

I say I want to pay with credit and tap my card. Presumably, one could do the same with their iPhone instead.

Most McDonalds have the reader inside right by the window, and can pick it up and hold it outside for use of Apple Pay in the drive through. There are multiple videos of it working this way.

I tried it this way... but my Applepay didn't take and I ended up just using my credit card.
