So... I guess this fits with my suspicion that MobileMe will be up sometime next week... however the FAQ states that:
You will need to update to software version 2.0 or later to enable push mail, push contacts, push calendar, and push bookmarks. This software update will be available when MobileMe launches.

So ... maybe my suspicions are incorrect.

I just tested mine and it is working with the @me.com Can't say that I like @me.com better than @mac.com. I will probably still use mac instead of me.

more flexibility

And this is why I don't like .mac and other email addresses. I hate it when the company up and decides to change the address. Verizon customers are going through that right now in our area. This is very disruptive for people.

The solution is to own your own domain name. $9/yr. Cheaper than .Mac by far. Add a web host shared account on that for another few dollars a year and you have far more power and stability. Then you don't have Apple all of a sudden changing your email address which means notifying all your friends and customers, printing new brochures, new business cards, updating logins, etc.

Apple is doing their .Mac customers a huge disservice.

Actually, as stated already, you get both .me and .mac as addresses. You can use .mac as your business address, and .me as your personal address. I'm just testing to see if my .me address works yet. Next question will be whether its possible to filter incoming emails by .me or .mac. One folder for work, another for personal.... if one chooses to use .mac and .me that way.

No yet

Just tested, my email starts with a u, so I may be one of the last ones. So sad. Oh well. Guess I'll just wait until its official.

let the creativity begin.

I just spent the last 5 minutes coming up with clever names for the new suffix... and i FINALLY FOUND ONE that wasn't already taken.

For obvious reasons I'm not going to list it here.. but Lets just say this new email alias will now be my main contact info for anything that doesn't require a level of professionalism.

I tried whywontyoulook@me.com, pleasestoplookin@me.com, and comeholla@me.com... but to no avail.

this is fun.

Not working here on my normal @mac.com address nor aliases. Here's Google's error:

Code:
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

    ---@me.com

Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias: ---@me.com (state 14).

Just tested it out and I'm up and running on me.com.

Still going to go by my mac.com email though.... a whole heck of a lot more professional looking and not so "facebook/myspace" looking.

Mine's working as well. I'm waiting for use of the features. I like the push idea. I really don't care what the end of my emil says. @mac or @me, doesn't make a difference.

Yeah, it works. I'm still on the fence about switching e-mail addresses. I've had mine the same since the days when iTools was around. .Mac was always a tough name, since it has to be said as dotmac and looks so close to just Mac. With the e-mail address and web-site for .Mac having been mac.com, the nomenclature never made sense except that they were making some weird dig at Microsoft's .Net as I recall? Now the product is pegged against Exchange which makes a lot more sense given what the new product is.

I hope me.com starts sounding less lame because I don't really want to stick with mac.com as I like to always have the newest and freshest thing.
