second guessing but going with 42mm i think. when i look at the cutout, i just think 38's interface will look too small at 165mm/57

I still can't decide between the 38/42

Just been reading http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2015/04/apple-watch-australian-hands-on/ and some interesting bits:

On Apple’s site, the smaller 38mm model looks as big as the original Samsung Gear Live or LG G Watch, but in real life it’s petite! The 42mm watch looks like an iPhone 6 Plus by comparison online, but in real life it feels infinitely more manageable. It’s baffling.

Hey everyone, now that preorder time has begun I thought we could share what we ended up with.

I ended up ordering just the 38mm space grey sport. A little crushed because I wanted a leather loop band, but those only come in 42mm.

I did consider ordering another watch at 42 mm but just didn't want to have to deal with the extra charge, plus the delivery dates had slipped to June.

Will see how the 38mm feels as I do think the 42mm would just be too big for my puny guy wrists.

Went with the 42mm stainless with a white sport band. I was waffling until the very end, but I think being a big guy that it'll be okay on me. I guess we'll see!

I was on the fence re. size, but in the end i went for the 42mm because im right in the middle of that 170-190mm range so i could go either way :S i would prefer to have a bit more room to work with, better battery life and its still not as wide as my current watch which i don't feel is big.

Im trying them on later today, so if its too big i guess i will just need to wait till may for the 38mm, but i don't think it will be as i have a pretty average sized wrist.

Ended up going with the 42mm SS Milanese. Considered ordering both sizes, but I would've had to finance one, and by the time I made up my mind the delivery dates had slipped so I skipped that idea.

I really think in person the 42mm will look and feel great. From everything I read, anyone male or female could honestly pull off either size - it's purely personal preference. Anyone posting that one looks MASSIVE or TINY is being a drama queen in my opinion.

I lied! I went back in and also placed an order for the 42mm sport (silver) with blue band as it had a much better delivery date than the 42mm space grey sport.

So, I have both a 38mm (SG) and 42mm (silver) ordered. I made an appointment to try them on tomorrow afternoon, so I'll cancel whichever one I decide not to get. Feeling a bit better now!

Just wanted to thank everyone for the constructive input. Best of luck to all :)

Well I was sure I would and I did. 42mm SS Black sport band as there's only 3 that will fit round my wrist according to the Apple sizing guide and I'm not sure I like the classic or the leather loop, I'll need to wait and see them in the flesh.

After losing weight during an illness I decided to order both. Scheduled an appointment at the Apple Store for this evening and will cancel one after trying them on in the store. I would be a 42 but my watch floats on me now. Hate to be stuck with a 38 as I gain the weight back.

I've just got back from a try-on appointment at my local Apple Store.

I have ~155mm (~6") circumference wrists, with a wrist width of around 50-55mm.

I had been wanting a 42mm Apple Watch, but had been worried that it would be too big because of my small wrists.

However... it's fine! :) If anything, the 38mm looks small (to me).

I tried the 42mm Stainless Steel Apple Watch with Link Bracelet (no demo versions of the Space Black :( ), 42mm Stainless Steel Apple Watch with Milanese Loop, and 38mm Stainless Steel Apple Watch with Milanese Loop.

The 42mm with the Link Bracelet was great :)

The Apple guy had to take out eight links, which still left a couple more removable links on each side of the clasp, so it could have gone smaller still if needed.

It looked good. No issue with it looking too big, or dominating my arm.

I then tried the 42mm with the Milanese Loop.

The Milanese Loop *felt* great. Very light and soft.

But... My wrists put me at the bottom end of the size range for the Milanese Loop, and it really did not look right.

I had to have it as tight as it would go, which meant that the magnet end of the band came all the way round to the other side of the watch.

It just looked wrong. It made it seem untidy. It also looked too big even though the case itself was the same size as the one I wore with the Link Bracelet.

So, I then tried the 38mm with the Milanese Loop, to test both the smaller case and the shorter band.

The Milanese Loop itself on the 38mm case was the perfect size.

But... The case just looked too small, to me, despite my small wrists.

I also had a quick try with the Black Sport Band, but it was too big so must have been the M/L one rather than the S/M.

Setting aside sizing issues, the Watch itself looks great in person.

So, decision made: I'm keeping my 42mm Space Black Link pre-order.

I got a 38mm Milanese for April 24th - May 8th delivery.

I got a 42mm Milanese for May 13th - May 27th delivery.

And for my wife I got a 38mm Modern Buckle Black for May 13th - May 27th delivery.

We both have try on appointments today at 5:30pm.

Let's see what I'm gonna keep. I'd rather wait a few weeks then to get the wrong one.

38mm is not for men.

Apple implied it themselves its for women. Does anyone remember the woman runner wearing the 38mm at the apple event? lol cmon guys
