I think this is pretty funny. Unless you are in the Netherlands, 6'0 is not average in size. Average height for a man in the US in 5'9.5. I think this explains some of the discussion on 38mm vs. 42mm for guys who say they think they have small wrists.

yes, 6'0" 178lbs is not avg. I'm 5'11" and 213 and I'm definitely closer to average in both height and weight (sadly)

I'm not a guy, but I have huge wrists (194). I ordered the 38 mm because it just looks more like a watch. I never liked big watches anyway, plus I'm kind of a klutz and I know if a watch is too big, I'll end up dinging it left right and center.

And I submitted feedback to Apple that I want them to introduce the leather loop to the smaller watch sizes. Dammit.

I need help with this one. I have 190mm wrists. I ordered the 38mm sports for my wife and she received it. I ordered the 42mm.. Haven't received yet but of course tried hers.

I think it looks good IMO. I just had my try on appointment today,I have 180MM wrist. The 38MM looked perfect, the 42MM as it looked good, made it look like I had a gadget,or toy on my hand.

Thanks. I thought it looked ok. That's what I'm afraid of.

Here is how I choose, maybe it can help you as well since both looked great on me and I spent days trying to decide. First think of what type of work do you do? If you have a suit type of work of course the 38MM will be best or if you do home office or causal the 42MM may work best.

That was my deciding factor

i think both sizes are great. ten'ish years ago it was uncommon to see a watch bigger than 38mm. my partner has the 42mm and it looks just as well as my 38mm, i just prefer the less chunky one. the size difference really isn't that much at all.

Agreed, unless your comparing both side by side it's really hard to tell.

How do the 38MM look are y'all's wrist? I originally ordered the 42MM but after printing out the two size mocks they both look good. Just curious from another guys point of view?

It's OK at 38mm in terms of looks but borderline tight. The 42 I am waiting on will give me a bit more "breathing room".

I think it may be perfect. My wrists are 177mm around and I'm waiting on 38mm watches myself. Big watches are tacky. Big smartwatches are kinda dorky looking. What you're wearing actually looks like a watch.

I've had both sizes at my home so I've been able to look at them both on me and others.

Without a question, 42mm is the only way to go FOR ME. There is something neat about the tiny factor of the 38mm when I put it on, but in my eyes on my arm it looks like a woman's watch or child's watch. Many women I believe would prefer the 42 too.

I would have been ok with something slightly larger than 42.

I'd wear a larger :apple: Watch if all they used the extra space for was more battery. Not a dis but was thinking about apps from Hotel chains where your watch can unlock your room. No conventioneer has ever crawled in at a wee hour of the morning! Would suck if your watch died and was your only way in!

42mm space gray it is. Will be ordering it soon. Went with wife tonight and she helped me decide. She's getting stainless steel 38mm

I just got my watch today, 38mm Space gray and people are right it is smaller than I thought it would be but I am fine with it. It fits my wrist just right and I think the 42mm will look too large.

Anyways, I am satisfied so far after 5 hours of ownership so we shall see.

I ordered a 38mm and received it on Friday. I was initially a bit concerned about the size, thinking I might have gotten it wrong (mostly due to the smaller screen size and possibly battery, but also because of aesthetics), however as days went by I realized just how comfortable and somehow subtle it is when compared to other smartwatches I've seen around. It's not a gadget, it's more of a watch (sure, there are watches out there way bigger than 42mm, but you get the point...).

Today, I'm basically struggling to see the real value in getting the bigger version. I mean, is it bigger really better for something you have stuck to your wrist all day? Battery life differences aside (which are anyway not clear at this point), both watches are just perfectly usable and navigable, there is no problem whatsoever with the smaller screen. Checking notifications, sending messages, doing workouts, etc, are things that don't really require any additional real estate.

I have to say I'm not a big guy by any means, my wrists are about 55-60mm in width, and I have rather thin fingers too. I could see someone not feeling comfortable with the 38mm one, but I think a huge amount of people are getting the 42mm version just for the sake of getting the biggest one possible.

That looks absolutely perfect on you... and I'm really starting to dig these white bands. I may have to buy one.

Thank you!
I agree, the white band looks quite nice, and I think it grows on you the more you wear it. I'll be getting a black one as well for more formal situations, the contrast with the silver sport is cool!

My 38mm SG arrived yesterday. When opening the box, I panicked at how small the watch looked. I thought that perhaps I purchased the wrong size. Once I put it on, however, I think it is the perfect size for me and that 42mm would look too large on my wrist.

I'm a guy in the 38mm club as well, I was worried at first that the smallest strap would be too big for me as I have such small wrists but it's fits perfectly with a few notches spare even, loving it so far...
