Here's the 38mm on my 180mm wrist. I bought both sizes, but sold the 42mm to my friend because I preferred the look of the smaller one. Image
I like the white band so much better than I thought I would. I felt the same way about it during my try on.

I ordered a 38mm and received it on Friday. I was initially a bit concerned about the size, thinking I might have gotten it wrong (mostly due to the smaller screen size and possibly battery, but also because of aesthetics), however as days went by I realized just how comfortable and somehow subtle it is when compared to other smartwatches I've seen around. It's not a gadget, it's more of a watch (sure, there are watches out there way bigger than 42mm, but you get the point...).
Today, I'm basically struggling to see the real value in getting the bigger version. I mean, is it bigger really better for something you have stuck to your wrist all day? Battery life differences aside (which are anyway not clear at this point), both watches are just perfectly usable and navigable, there is no problem whatsoever with the smaller screen. Checking notifications, sending messages, doing workouts, etc, are things that don't really require any additional real estate.
I have to say I'm not a big guy by any means, my wrists are about 55-60mm in width, and I have rather thin fingers too. I could see someone not feeling comfortable with the 38mm one, but I think a huge amount of people are getting the 42mm version just for the sake of getting the biggest one possible.

I thought the same exact thing when I opened my 38 space grey. Then after a day of use and the more I looked at it, I realized that the screen was just right for me. Ive had no problem with any of the things you do on it. And it does looks more like a normal watch.
Or, is it really just cognitive dissonance?either way, as long as you're happy it's cool.[
You were right. I just ordered a 42 SS with sport band. Since I'm 6ft 180 athletic build, the more I looked at the 38 on my wrist the more it looked awkward to me. Nobody on this thread get me wrong, the 38 no doubt works for ppl. But I couldn't justify keeping something this pricey for over a year that I wear everyday to not be happy with.
Maybe your wrist width is wider than others with 175mm wrists.38mm SS 175mm wrists.
i feel like this is too small. I'll try it for a week and see how i feel.
i can't bring myself to upgrade to the 42 SS, if this doesn't fit right, i'll go with a 42 Sport. Can't decide between space grey and silver though... tough call.

42mm will fit you with most bands. Keep in mind, that with a width of 175mm the 42mm sport band is maybe not a good fit. For the sport band you are good with your 38mm.
I've had a hard time with the 38. I love the size of the watch, I didn't want a big watch. But I've had a problem with the bands seeming too skinny for me. I bought the watch with the black classic buckle, I like the strap, but not on me. Then I bought a black sport band, big improvement as its a bit wider. It's also very comfortable. Today I received a link band, I really like it. It's even wider than the sport band and much more chunky!
