I HAD a 38mm SS BSB for 2 weeks.

LOVED the Watch but over the course of the 2 weeks really thought, on my 192mm wrist, it looked a trifle small. Wasn't sure, wasn't really unhappy, BUT a visit to the Apple Store and a try on of a 42mm SS BSB tipped the scale. Those extra few mm made all the difference TO ME....so returned the 38mm and ordered the 42.

Currently on 26/6 - 02/7 time frame. Ordered on May 14, and initially was on 25/6 - 9/7, so apparently it COULD be delivered a day later, but also a week earlier!!

----------

Couldn't be happier with my 38. The 42 is a behemoth.

Yeah, the 38 (which I think is actually 38.6 or 38.7?) makes that 42 look SO HUGE......rubbish. An extra 3.3 or so does not make it look HUGE. Just a bit bigger, and certainly not excessively so.

My other watch is a 44mm Rolex Deepsea and I Have the 38mm SS with BSB and to be honest love the 38.....being used to a REAL CHUNKY watch I was finding that it was more annoying to wear as a day to day due to shirts etc.....the 38mm fits perfectly and doesn't catch on anything

Men with the 38

I'm not sure exactly, I've never measured. I did go to the apple store to try them on - hence why I didn't order til the 13th - but certain models seemed to suit me in different sizes depending on the band. The 42 in space grey did look best, but then I tried the ML on and it looked far better in the 38, the 42 looked horribly big on me.

So i figured I'm somewhere in between and happy to have the 38. Especially as a case for the gym (don't want to smash it into some weights accidentally) might add some extra heft to it - I look at some of the people with naked 42s and already think they look way way way too big for my tastes.

Awesome! Yeah, the 38 doesn't look bad on you. You could pull off both of them. It looks like a traditional watch on you hand, which is the look you are going for.

Lol. Wow. 192mm wrists and you actually considered the 38? Did you ever post a picture of that?

----------

I always assumed I had small wrists, I am "shorter" by comparison to the average male and pretty fit and thin, so it was always my assumption. Turns out that is not the case, my wrists are still about 200mm, which as I see here is the larger end.

(Side Note: As an American it was impossible to find anything that measures in mm, so I used a cm stick. I stupidly forgot how simple the metric system was and thought I would have to do some stupid conversion. So it stands to reason, why the ***** don't we use the metric system?)

I finally received the 42mm and it looks so much better, the 38mm always looked small. I wouldn't mind the 38mm, it doesn't look bad at all, it is all up to personal taste, but the 42mm also does not look "big." Since the 42mm looks fine I am keeping it for the larger screen size and apparent battery advantage.

Wow. Sorry. I'm just a little surprised. I am also trying to imagine a 38 on a 200mm wrist. lol.

My partner has a 210mm wrist on a tight fit and 220 comfort for so the 38" would be dreadful. I have 170mm and tried the 38 and it looked tiny and the 42 looked right for me so ordered that.

I think this thread is a little silly. First off the title alone will attract those that picked the 38mm and like it.

I don't see why thats a problem. There's already a sizing guide thread for people to ask for opinions on sizes. This thread is asking for men who opted for the 38mm and are happy with their choice, but its been overrun by those who think the 42mm is the only appropriate size for men.

If you ask for opinion on one size, then you should expect an opinion on the alternative. Otherwise this should have just been a poll to calculate how many think their 38mm is fine.

What I find silly is that the only two qualifiers in this thread seem to me "being of the male gender" and being "happy" with the 38mm. Which ultimately means nothing without knowing more.

There is a VAST array of men (and women) out there in different shapes, sizes and styles.

The sizing guide is a joke and ONE persons opinion. What looks and feels right on one person is more about opinion than a scientific ratio of watch mm to wrist measurement.

Have you looked at the style guide thread? Its certainly a lot more than one persons opinion. We already use that thread for debating sizes, this thread was made for a different purpose but has basically become a duplicate of what the style guide thread is.

Yes, I have seen the thread. That is what I based my opinion on. :p

Ordered the 38mm SS BSB Monday 5/25, shipped today (Tuesday 5/26). I had originally ordered it middle of last week with an extra Classic Buckle band in the same order. Including the band in the original order seemed to slow down shipping of the watch, so I cancelled and re-oredered the watch alone, and put the band (ML this time) in a separate order. That did the trick!

38MM SS with Classic Leather. 170MM wrist. Was worried it might be too small. But really liking the size so far. I could probably do the 42MM but seems like i could of gone with either size. Plus I ordered this a week in a half ago and already have it! Small benefit there :p

Enjoying it! I ordered mine with the BCB and the purchased the Black Sports Band and it's my favorite of the two!

Personally, I like the 38mm "watch" look over the 42mm "smart watch" look. That's not to knock the 42mm at all. Both are great-looking watches!

Looks great! This is how a watch is supposed to look.

177mm wrists here. Had the 42mm SGS, but now have the 38mm SS BSB.

I understand how folks think the 38m might be too small, but consider this...

A regular watch always has something on the face, hands/time/date/whatever. It has something to consume the large face of the watch.

The only time this watch has something to consume the space is when I lift it to my face. Otherwise, it is a blank slab of empty glass.

The 42mm looks like a giant piece of technology on your wrist, especially when nothing is being display (99% of the time).

The 38mm is more discreet and doesn't (as much) scream big blank screen when off.

Net-net: My wrist could support a 42mm, but it looks more techie than I would like.

This is a valid point!

I keep seeing conflicting info on the Web about the ppi of the 38mm, even on dedicated Apple fan sites etc. I see 290 ppi being given out a lot while the 42mm is over 300.
I thought they were the same (?)

I'm not trying to be a jerk, just wondering why? What's the difference?
I have a 38 and its readability is crystal clear.

I have a 38, but have small wrists. I tried both on and was surprised that the 42 didn't look ridiculous, but the 38 was definitely the better fit.

I just got my 38mm today.

WTF was I thinking getting the 42mm? Lol. I am looking back at the pictures, and like, "wow, it really did look like a calculator on my wrist."
