Lets say he exaggerated the data. If there was a high enough return rate, there wouldn't be any room to make excuses. I'm not saying what apple doing is not ********. pal.... All I'm saying is we only have ourselves to blame. Actions speak louder than trolling on the forums.

Let's wait to see how Apple is affected in a weeks time. I, like many others were waiting for Apple to come out and tell us what's going on. Now we know what they really think of their loyal customers we can finally make a decision.
 
I don't care. I like to drink the Steve Jobs Cool-Aid whenever he serves it, and I'm proud of it. Why? Because he's a perfectionist, and if it wasn't up to his standards, I know he wouldn't have released it. Besides, people who are silly enough to walk around with a naked iphone are insane. And don't give me the whole "design flaw" argument either, because it's not like the iPhone 3GS was indestructible compared to the iPhone 4. IT STILL HAD GLASS IN THE FRONT!!

Put a case on it and be happy. There is no such thing as a perfect phone. The closest you will get is the iPhone. :)

I am going to assume one of three options:

1. Free Bumper/Case mailed to you
2. If you don't have proof of purchase, you get a $30 apple/iTunes gift card
3. If you do have proof of purchase, get money back.

We will have to wait until late next week to find out though. I am only slightly frustrated because I did purchase a 3rd party case (Rocketfish gel) which I will not be getting a refund on... I suppose I will choose a different case to have as a backup or just forget it.

I didn't realise that cases protected the front glass? Who are you to tell people that they should use a case? iPhone 4 wasn't designed to be cased, that should be optional.
 
The data was hard proof. 0.55% of customers complained (to apple) about the reception drop issue. only 1.7% of iphone 4 owners had the balls to actually return the phone. And you people expect a recall? Do me a favor and lookup how companies calculate when a recall is worth it or not (I realize that there will be differences in protocol)

I'm not saying Apple is not at fault, but I notice a lot of people come on the forums to complain about the reception issue, instead of speaking with their wallets. If you want to be heard and you want apple to fix the issue, return your phone. If return rates were at 30...40...50... percent... you would not be getting a bumper ;)

I've got my flame suit on, so bring it. By the way, I'm keeping my phone. Because the issue does not affect my daily use.

That's still 51,000 people who all bought iphones then returned them.

I bet a lot more sold them on ebay for much higher prices.

EDIT: And that's the # who complained to APPLE CARE. I don't have apple care, but still called and complained to tech support.
 
maybe the returns are low because apple put out a bs storey saying a software fix is coming out? and everyone expected it too be one to fix there reception issues?

Apple never said a software fix was coming out. they said they were going to fix the algorithm that was showing incorrect # of bars. read.
 
You're right!! Poor apple, there just trying to make great products damn it! Trying to make great products for me because they love me, Steve said so himself! So we should all instead of accepting a bumper or refund, let's just send THEM an extra $29 just so they know how much we love them back! Who's with me!?:apple:

your phone is still under apple care. This is the data that they have, my point is, if you dont complain to APPLE instead of some random forum, how will they know exactly how many people are being affected by this problem? Give me an effing break man, I saw a petition on Gizmodo to get apple to give us free bumpers. Are you serious!? lol... Its what everyone asked for, instead of manning up and returning their phones.

and yes 51,000 phones.... thats still 1.7%.... whats your point? 51k phones is not a lot of phones to apple.

Seeing that other phones have the same problem when held in a similar way to the iPhone 4 really changed my position on the whole issue. The iPhone 4 is certainly not the only one to have such problems, but it is a very popular phone, and that is, in my opinion, what lead to all the publicity over this issue.

I am happy with the press conference today but the numbers are BS. I have a problem with 2 iPhones and I haven't called or returned my phone. It doesn't mean I'm completely happy with it. There are a lot of people like me that have the issue but don't figure into Steve's stats.
 
The op is right on the money. People just want to complain about nothing. Apple has done everything to help complainers. They offered full refund, now bumpers. And as we speak they are still flying off the shelves. It's a great phone and the best os out right now.

Neither did I for the same reasons, Thats not the point of this thread. I'm not forcing everyone to call and complain. I'm simply saying, if you have a problem with your phone... now would be the perfect time to call and complain to APPLE, not on mac rumors. Now no one needs to make any assumptions, its laid out for you in plain English.

1) there is no software fix
2) return your phone for a full refund
3) get a bumper or case from apple for free lol

So How am I suppose to pick up my free case when I bought the iPhone from another guy and its totally brand new? Do I just walk in Apple store and show them my iPhone and say hey I need a friggin bumper case?
My guess would be that they do it by serial number. And I think you gotta order it on a website next week and they ship it, no going to the store.

Thats the point, if you don't voice your complaint, well basically to apple it doen't exists. Thats why the number its so low, because people complained daily in the forums but they didn't take the time to call and complain or had the balls to return the phone. Thats why to apple its a non issue.

If you didn't complain then, don't bitch here about not been part of apples stats.
