So How am I suppose to pick up my free case when I bought the iPhone from another guy and its totally brand new? Do I just walk in Apple store and show them my iPhone and say hey I need a friggin bumper case?

Serial number, if you have a vaild serial number they will register it to a bumper and send one out to you, if you try ordering another one they will see that you were already sent one. This is the way they handled the power adapter for the original iphone 3g that was recalled.

Jesus Christ you offered NO help whatsoever, did you even read what i asked?

I asked what about refunds for those who ALREADY bought one with their own money.

Go to apple store and show them your phone and bumper and receive refund?

I would've thought that your actual possession of the bumper would be proof enough, tbh. If they handle refunds via the stores (which is probably likely)

You should have provided you itunes account email, it will be tied to that address. I would imagine they would also just put your serial number into a database to show you received a refund.

Here's why i think you deserve a Bumper instead of a hardware fix.

The data was hard proof. 0.55% of customers complained (to apple) about the reception drop issue. only 1.7% of iphone 4 owners had the balls to actually return the phone. And you people expect a recall? Do me a favor and lookup how companies calculate when a recall is worth it or not (I realize that there will be differences in protocol)

I'm not saying Apple is not at fault, but I notice a lot of people come on the forums to complain about the reception issue, instead of speaking with their wallets. If you want to be heard and you want apple to fix the issue, return your phone. If return rates were at 30...40...50... percent... you would not be getting a bumper ;)

I've got my flame suit on, so bring it. By the way, I'm keeping my phone. Because the issue does not affect my daily use.

So, people that bought it on eBay for a premium are SOL. Right?

And, I guess people who bought the bumper from Apple and sold it on Ebay and other sites get to profit from this.

Greeeeaattt!

I didn't see any data?? All I heard was a CEO trying to defend his defective product. I find it sad that people on here believe every word that he says. Remember a few weeks back when there wasn't an issue? Now Apple are giving out free cases. Wake up and smell the coffee pal.

Thank God Steve stood up for what's right. And along those lines, I am perfectly happy with my iPhone 4 and the Bumper I bought on Day 1 and don't want Apple's money at all. I wasn't raised to take money I don't deserve. In fact, I'd like them to charge me an additional $29.00 to offset someone else's free case if that's what it takes as a gesture to show Apple how happy we are with what they do for us.

Look what we're doing to Apple. We can't let this happen.

My point.... you missed it =)

Lets say he exaggerated the data. If there was a high enough return rate, there wouldn't be any room to make excuses. I'm not saying what apple doing is not ********. pal.... All I'm saying is we only have ourselves to blame. Actions speak louder than trolling on the forums.

I dont drink Coffee.... pal.

maybe the returns are low because apple put out a bs storey saying a software fix is coming out? and everyone expected it too be one to fix there reception issues?

watch the refunds come rolling out now haha

Also OP, don't forget that all the money that is owed to users is probably placed in a special fund. If you don't claim it, it will probably be recycled into something that you don't care about. Like a pay raise for the janitor.

What hard proof again? I did not see any stats. All we had was Jobs saying it was only 0.55 percent of the customers. Besides, what is the definition of the "customers" here? Does it equal the number of iPhone 4's sold so far? In the U.S. only or worldwide? Or only those who bought AppleCare? All those critical details were missing from the conference.

I don't care. I like to drink the Steve Jobs Cool-Aid whenever he serves it, and I'm proud of it. Why? Because he's a perfectionist, and if it wasn't up to his standards, I know he wouldn't have released it. Besides, people who are silly enough to walk around with a naked iphone are insane. And don't give me the whole "design flaw" argument either, because it's not like the iPhone 3GS was indestructible compared to the iPhone 4. IT STILL HAD GLASS IN THE FRONT!!

Put a case on it and be happy. There is no such thing as a perfect phone. The closest you will get is the iPhone. :)
