Nice story, but that doesn't change the fact that you outright claimed that it isn't a word. Not that it's archaic, not that it was misused. Also, nit-picking grammar, syntax and spelling is against forum rules.

So what you are doing right now is what exactly? Oh, that's right. Against the forum rules.

Thanks for sharing!

This was on digg this morning, ok no big deal. But if you read the comments, several articles have been written saying that the way this person calculated his information is slightly wrong or different. Then goes on to show that Jobs was actually right.

I don't have a link off hand but just go look at the comments to the article on Digg.

The screen looks amazing. That's all that matters to me. :D

Yes, he should have said that supposedly was not the correct word. And while "supposably" is a word, it is an Americanism which would not be understood by much of the English-speaking world.

Thank you.

People, this is called "damage containment". They must soften the hit.

When the Retina Display will be out, all those people (Samsung especially) will have to shut up.

And no, I don't care if according to Display Mate my retina is supposed to see the Pixels. I don't even see them in the macro pictures taken by Engadget.

As a matter of fact, at a normal usage distance I don't even notice the pixels on my 3GS, and I'm 20/20.

What counts is that this is the sharpest display ever, that this is IPS (and not TN), and that the LCD is closer than ever to the glass surface (----> super clarity and "like it's printed ON the screen"-sensation). It will scream and feel closer to glossy fine print than ever. People at Samsung can astroturf all they want, but they have just a few day left to do it. Their PENTILE 2-subixel interlaced 800x480 matrix is shyt compared to Retina Display. Their false-WOW-colors are not as reliable as a good factory calibrated IPS colors. And don't get me started about AMOLED displays in broad sunlight.

So yeah the claim may be medically false but this is still the best freaking display around.

I find it incredible that Jobs/Apple bring a crazy display to the iphone (seriously, I can't believe we're getting 960x640 resolution on a 3.5" screen!), and most journalists/bloggers are more concerned about complaining and trying to call him a liar.

Eh. Nothing new. Remember when he said the PowerMac was "the fastest computer in the world" or some such, and when he claimed that one of them was in fact a "supercomputer on your desk"? Or when he championed some products as having "server grade hard drives"?

Any time someone makes a claim like that, it's going to be tested. Do I care whether or not the PowerMac is truly a supercomputer or not, or if it really was the fastest computer on the planet? No, I just care that it's fast enough for my needs.

The new iPhone display is sharper than most printed magazines. That's sharp enough for me!

Steve Jobs Lies about Retina Display - Get's Heckled by "You Lie!" guy

There's been much debate surrounding the Retina Display claims...here's an excerpt from the "SteveNote" that you might have missed

No more retina display!

Let's stop letting companies assign stupid words to simple things. It's a high resolution screen, not a "Retina Display". "Retina display" is made up, buzzword, ********. It's a nice looking screen, but all they did was cram more pixels into less space, people do it every year.

P.S. My coffee is large, not Venti. Screw you starbucks.

Yeah, It's not a 'Macbook' it's a 'portable laptop computational device'. Screw you Apple!

Danny: Can I get a large black coffee?
Barista: A what?
Danny: Large black coffee.
Barista: Do you mean a venti?
Danny: No, I mean a large.
Barista: Venti is large.
Danny: No, venti is twenty. Large is large. In fact, tall is large and grande is Spanish for large. Venti is the only one that doesn't mean large. It's also the only one that's Italian. Congratulations, you're stupid in three languages.

I love my retina screen. :)

I don't care much for what the OP thinks about the phrase "Retina display" but posts like these who've grossly overused the joke category of doing the very thing someone just said they dislike/hate needed to end in 1983.
