These are all Androids phone from 2010 it's like 40
apple just sell this one iphone 4, so you can't really compare the numbers.

Its quite simple,
multiple carriers + multiple phones = higher volume.

Exactly. Google isn't selling 160,000 phones a day. Companies selling phones that run Android might be selling 160,000 phones a day combined.

According to Flurry, Google sold 20,000 Nexus Ones during its launch week. Apple sold 1,600,000 3GS phones during its launch week.

A more accurate figure would be what each individual android loaded handset sold. I don't think they would stack up individually.

Im sick of this myself and im not an apple fanboy!

Android is not the phone! its the software!

Andoid spans lots of hardware manufactures LG,Moto,HTC,Samsung!

ANDROID IS SOFTWARE!

IOS 4 IS SOFTWARE!

Iphone is hardware running ios 4 there are 1g,3g,3gs and iphone 4 so 4 phones!

Android is running on about 20-30 phones now!

If apple decided to let the ios4 platform in the wild it would be like android but then you run into the problem of people messing with it, it becomes buggy and a fragmented mess!

All true!

Being a mac user, I'm used to feeling like a member of an elite minority. But ever since the iPod and iPhone took off, I sort of lost that... like somehow it was uncool because every suburban soccer mom had an apple product.

So, while it may sound silly... I'm actually glad that perhaps we're slowly on the way back to that...

The only people who buy android phone is people who have never owned an iPhone.

No one that's ever owned an iPhone would go android, that's walking backward android is sooooooooo lagy.

The better comparison is OS market share. iOS vs. Android, not X model vs. Y models.

True, but if the sales continue like that, Android will easily blow past IOS in OS market share too...

I wish that was true... 3 of my friends that had 3gs' went out and got them after this whole iphone 4 silliness... 2 got incredibles and 1 got a Droid X.

They are ugly!! (um the phones, not the people... they're pretty.)

I know and I've never understood why. Even on a phone with a 1 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM the interface on a fresh install of the Android OS is slow and laggy doing even simple tasks.

Ummmmm, I bet you deep inside they ain't happy with they're phone. :D:D

The bigger difference is that Android phones are available on EVERY carrier, even boost mobile has an android phone now. They are also available across all price points. There are free android phones, there are $50 android phones, there are $100 android phones.

There are only the 199 and 299 iPhone 4's. They aren't even selling the white ones yet.

Making a thread like this is like making a thread saying. ZOMG dumbphones are selling more phones than android phones, O NOES!!!

I get annoyed of using any android phone after a minute just because o that reason and because I find adroit ugly. :D

Well the new Captivate is pretty quick IMO. Give it a try at AT&T stores next time you're in the mall and have a few minutes to kill.

Software <> Hardware optimization. :)

I went from iPhone 3g to HTC Hero to Nexus One and also own two other Android devices.
I've also got my iPod touch for my iOS apps but i find myself using it less and less lately.

Platform choice ftw is all I can say! :D

Just an FYI, Google never said it was selling 160,000 phones a day. They said they were *activating* 160,000 phones a day.

Apple wont open up they dont have to it will do the trick everyone else is doing with android!

You have android:
- cheep phones
- Middle spec phones
-top spec phones

For apple to do this they will keep the ios 4 locked to apple they will gain:

Ios 4 on:
Ipad
Iphone
Ipods

My bet next we'll see ios 4 on:
Hybrid macs
Macbooks
Apple tv
A cheeper Iphone if the iphone brand gets stale
Nano iPhone
etc etc!

There smarter then u think! :apple:

The problem with Android is that there are a range of different phones with completely different specs. The OS is garbage. I have a feeling the only reason people like their android devices is because they are used to BS PC issues.

The software is buggy and there seems to be little in the way of a concurrent theme within the included OS apps and apps in the market place. Somethings seem way more work then they should be. For instance. On the iPhone to sync your phone to the computer it is as simple as plugging it in. iTunes took care of the rest. On my Droid I would have to go into contacts, export them to the SD card, then go into the calendar, export that to the SD card, same thing with photos and what not. Then I have to plug the phone into usb, pull down the drop down menu and select to mount the SD card. The phone is now a $500 media reader. Now I can take the contacts, etc off the SD card and import them into their respective programs. Way to much work for what should such a simple task.

The apps, well with no internal review of the apps by google the vast majority of them are crap. Many of them fail to even load on many of the phones. The apps fail in comparison to any iPhone app, even by the same people.

The hardware is also questionable. I have the misfortune of owning a Droid. This phone requires a reboot 2-5 times a day. The call quality is something you would expect in 1988. It is a rather cheap phone considering the price. Other android phones that I have checked out or that friends have are just as bad if not worse.

I had a hard time dealing with AT&T, their horrible customer service, their double billing. I just could not deal with them anymore. I made a mistake of getting an android based phone, would have been much happier with a simple flip phone and an iPad or something.

The 160,000 android phones comes from not only the fact that their are what, 20 or so phones out there that run the OS, but also because so many are replaced as the quality is just lame.

IDK, some people swear by their android, I want nothing more then to throw this POS at the jerk that sold it to me (And didn't let me exchange it within my 30 day exchange period). Yeah, I'm salty.:p
