I'm sorry, the black bezel is far nicer looking. I'm not saying style over substance, but the colours should also look a lot more vibrant on a glossy screen. I personally don't think it's worth the upgrade.

Never been a fan of the black border. Looks too clunky. The silver bezel just makes the laptop look like a Mac.

I'll not even mention reflections and what is easier on the eyes.. :p

I would have preferred the black bezel but it's simply not an option because after viewing them side by side at the Apple Store, I knew I had to have the hi-res matte. The gloss had more punch to the colors but in much the same way as the default TV settings do out of the box. In other words, it looked good at first glance but wasn't as accurate. (in my opinion anyway)

The glossy (in terms of reflection) is the same as the glossy on the black/white MacBooks from 2006, right?

I see these kind of responses all the time and this is what I think:
- People who have been using older MBPs en PBs like the silver bezel more
(maybe because it makes them look like the beloved older ones?)
- People who are new(er) to the Mac like the black bezel more
(well, why not, combination of silver and black is nice?)

However, I still don't understand why you would choose the very glossy
screen over the matte one while using Adobe programs

AG 1680x1050 screen is a no brainer for me. This is best upgrade after long-lasting batteries Apple made for unibody lineup.

Thank you for the pics. I am leaning towards a high res matte. Can you post some more pictures of your new baby? From different angles and lighting conditions? Maybe running a game or playing a movie? Thank you and congratulations on a beautiful machine.

Meh, I guess I just blew your theory. I've been using Macbook Pro's since they were introduced and I find the silver bezel to be a detraction on how the line looks. My large-screen stand-alone monitors (Samsungs) all have black bezels and it aids in the whole "borderless" illusion. The silver bezel pretty much screams "real estate ends HERE."

Good to see they have resized the 'Macbook Pro' writing on the bottom bezel... always thought they were a bit big on the older anti-glare bezel.

My 15 inch high res antiglare is in the mail, and you just reinforced that I made the right call. Matte all the way

Here are more pics of the 15" high-res anti-glare screen. The pictures that are brighter have a flash. The pictures that are darker are with no flash. On some of the pictures, as you can see you can still see reflection of my window. However, the reflection is very dull and fuzzy (not like a virtual mirror you'd see with the glossy screen.)

For those who didn't know, the anti-glare bezel is not "frameless" or "endless" like on the glossy screens. On the glossy screen, you can run your finger from left edge to right edge and your finger will be on the same plane. On the anti-glare, the screen is actually recessed inside the frame (just like on most HDTV screens and older laptops). I wasn't happy about the screen being recessed, but I guess it is necessary to get the anti-glare look. THEREFORE, yes, if you press on the LCD screen itself, it will distort and change colors briefly. With the gloss of course, the screen is protected behind a piece of glass (or is it plastic) so you can't physically touch it's screen at all.

Notice the new power cable does not interfere with the Speck case. It's hard to tell in this pic, but the cable is about 0.5 mm away from the speck case.

Nice photos!

For the record - the glossy screen is behind the frame too, it has to be! All screens are. It is just it has a glass cover which seals it.

Looks great. Thanks for all the pictures.

I have an iMac 27'', so I'm used to Apple glossy, but I'm definitely going with the matte on this one. I just can't decide whether the 17'' or the 15'' is right for me.

Nice photos!

It seems to me that it would cost less for Apple to manufacture a matte screen version vs. the glossy version. Glass is relatively expensive, and they basically just switch the bezel and take out the glass, so I'd think that Apple's probably making more money off the AG versions than the glossy ones.

Amazing pictures! I've cancelled my 15" glossy and re-ordered high res matte. Shipping is 5-7 but I can wait for that beauty

Hi, thanks for all the pics. My store doesn't have the 15" Hi-Res with anti-glare, but they do have the 17" with anti-glare. I thought this new anti-glare is significantly better than last year's; sharper yet also blocking out the glare.

Do you get to see the 17" with anti-glare? If yes, is that same quality, sharpness, etc.?

I found the text on the 17" with its High-Res readable for me. Is the text on the 15" High-Res at least as big as the 17"?

If yes to all of the above, I'll be getting the 15" High-Res too. :)

I've seen the 17" anti-glare screen too. I can also read the text on it.

If you can read the text on the 17" anti-glare, which is 1920 x 1200 resolution, then the text on the 15" high resolution, which is 1680 x 1050 resolution, will appear bigger. So yes, go for it.

Ah, yeah you're right. The glass on the glossy screen is edge to edge though, meaning it sits even on top of the bezel, giving that endless appearance.
