I just got my 15 inch hi res anti glare

Wow.

The screen is fantastic. Like a fine painting. Pictures don't do it justice. Really even much better than I anticipated.

Great to hear! Can't wait to receive mine, still waiting to ship.

There comes some more anti-glare photos!

I just got it last saturday, 15" i7 Hi-Res Matte

Thanks for the pics.

I think the silver bezel looks revolting, and I wouldn't give up the wonderful protective glass layer for anything.

However the high-res screen looks amazing. I only got my new, old style MBP 11 days ago but I have become such a Mac convert since then that the high-res screen has persuaded me to buy a top end 15inch new MBP with HR screen.

The sheer delight of using macs has made me feel like I did when I was 16 years old and experiencing the delights of my Amiga.

Apple has made computer ownership exciting and fun again!
I hadn't realised that MS had sucked so much joy out of computing.

So Iam going to flog an antique which I inherited years ago and get the new notebook, an Apple TV doodad, An iMac, and an iPad when we finally get them in England.

Does anyone know if I were to go into an Apple store and buy all the above at the same time for cash would they knock me a few quid off?

@BaronStein : Great pictures.

May i ask you for a small test?
Not sure if you have had old generation 15" but a problem i had with that model was that the hinge could not hold the screen in place when i was in bed and had the laptop on my lap.
Is is possible for you to have the screen in roughly 100 degree angle and lean the MBP upwards a bit (like it would be on your lap on a couch or bed).

With my old MBP the screen usually fel down so i am hoping it sitts a bit more firm on new models.

Nice pictures.

I hate the silver surround bezel primarly because it doesn't finish off with the black keys, why they didn't they have the white keys from the new wireless keyboards fitted we'll never know.

Is the antiglare screen soft to push slightly ?

I've had anti-glare samsung X series in the past and I found their anti-glares scruff up after a while (I'm talking a few years of course). A white marks and rough patches appear, even marks from little rubber resters start to appear marking the sides.

I prefer the black bezel. But the hi res matte screen is so good that I don't really notice the bezel when using my machine. Plus in some ways the silver does give some continuity with rest of machine. So for me it is moot.

I like the matte screen, but that silver bezel is down right ugly....

Why can't Apple offer a matte screen with a black bezel that would be a perfect option for so many people and tie down everything beautifully.

Looks like i have to compromise and go with the hi res glossy, since i'm not gonna use it outdoors much...

Quite annoyed...

IMHO: Probably a black bezel without a glass (actuallyt a mirror) over it would be nasty, expecially thinking about the little bump and the contrast between a shiny bezel and an opaque screen surface...
So this is the best-looking option.

Though I would like a silver keyboard with a silver bezel!!! So sexy!

I agree, thats why i got the glossy screen, because of the black bezel, the whit bezel makes it look plasticy and cheap - which it's not! It looks like a cheap PC, most PC's have a white bezel, which doesn't fit in. The white bezel is not like apple, i would prefer a black bezel.

I don't mind glossy because i never get any finger prints on it, the laptop will probably be closed most of the time and the reflections I'll have to deal with, and all my after effects, photoshop, fireworks work will be done on a matte external display.

If you choose matte or glossy because of the colour of the bezel then... lol.

Secondly, the bezel made of aluminium and is silver not white.

Thirdly, it is Apple. Apple's real signature look for their laptops is the all silver PowerBooks and non-unibody MacBook Pro's. Silver bezels. Same applies to the cinema displays - all silver. The new 24" ACD is ugly and not Apple like (regardless of what the iPad, iPhone or iMac now look like).

Totally Agree!!

Wondering if anybody has gone matte and regretted it?

Im really wanting to sell my current MBP and drop the extra cash to get an i7 15" matte. Just scared that I will miss the gloss screen for some reason. Unlikely, but ya never know!

I saw the 17" matte in store today and I must say it looked stunning.

I'm still waiting to see the 15" hi res matte in person, and am still a bit concerned that the text will be too small and hurt my eyes.

I am the idiot who said that he loved his matte, but then after a weekend with it, I realized how much the silver trim bugged me (very silly I know). Also, I started to realize when I went back to Apple that I was just tricking myself into thinking I wanted the matte more and I knew my heart wanted the glossy. So I got a 100% exchange on my return, but now I have a horrible 5-7 day shipping wait. My original specs were the 17" core i7. My advice is if you can, look at both models. That doesn't help online though. It's allot of money so in the end you should be very picky.

Can you explain why you returned the matte screen for the glossy-mirror screen?
Just very curious..

Id jump on the 15" hi-res matte if only it had a black bezel

I really hate how the silver bezel looks. It looks so old. The black bezel gives it a touch of class and refinement. IMO.

Each to their own. I love the silver bezel-it blends with the laptop as a whole. The black bezel (in my opinion) looks out of place (again, in my opinion).

The silver bezel also reminds me of my old PowerBook.

I think the silver bezel is beautiful, like the old non-unibody MBPs were. That black bezel is too "heavy"-looking for the minimalist style of the MBP, methinks, and has bothered me about the unibodies since day 1. Am looking forward to my hi-res matte 15"!

Dammit, thats gonna be me! The thing is I only to get the new computer for the matte screen, my current specs suit me. So if I sell, buy the new matte screen, an dont want it afterwards sure I can return it and get a glossy but then I just spent about 400 bucks to upgrade specs that I dont need but still have a gloss screen like when I started.

Hrmph.

Also, my glossy screen always magically ends up with finger smudges all over it, but I RARELY touch the screen. Its crazy.

So on the matte, will the screen quality degrade more quickly as the dirt/fingers etc that often touch the screen wont be behind a glass wall but touching the scree directly?

Agree... I like the silver bezel better than the black bezel
