my contract ends early june and i was wondering which phone do you guys think will come out first. i really want the iphone but att is expensive. if i go with sprint i can pay 69.99 for everything. att would be like 115 per month. i like the way the iphones os works over driod, but the specs of the evo are amazing. so i think my deciding factor is going to be which one is available to me first. any ideas on when both of these are supposed to come out?

It looks like the EVO is getting an event in New York on May 12th for something, but it might not be a launch. Just wait for the new iPhone, you will be glad you did. :apple:

The new iPhone should be available in the June/July timeframe if Apple follows how they have done it in the past. As far as I know, the EVO is being advertised as available in the Summer. So, neither one has a firm release date as far as I know.

yeah trust me i know apple makes a better product and a much better os. iv always loved the simplicity of apples software. but the 115 per month bill is a bit pricey for me and i really don't want to keep my ****** lg dare any longer.

plus that 4.3in screen is looking perty nice. i think ill be happy with either choice. but we'll see which one comes out first. if the evo event is in may it will probably be out before the iphone which event is around june 5th right?

In reference to the current cover story, apple may be attempting to compete with the evo launch date by selling the iPhone along the time table of WWDC. Just a thought. Let's see the evo in action and how buggy it could possibly be, then I would make a decision. It looks good on paper, very similar to the brunt of the iPhone competitors such as the storm and pre, but they couldn't deliver. I'd like to see some good healthy competition.

i agree. i mean driod has been out for long enough to work the bugs out. hopefully they do it with the evo. but your right i definitely should wait until some reviews come out for the evo to make sure the thing isnt a piece of junk to work with like iv heard with the N1 and stuff.

There are already videos of the EVO in action on Engadget. And it's not even the final version and it's running really smooth.

Also, whenever this press event is for Sprint will probably be when they release the EVO. I don't see what announcement they would make considering the phone has already been announced...

I'm still probably going to wait to see the final iPhone release anyway.

EDIT: Haha, I just watched the second video and that guy is an awful typist!

Like a hot knife through butter, the EVO is smooth.

i agree. im not sure how crazy i am about the back of the evo though or the kick stand. i like things simple and classy. but still looks real nice def nothing to complain about

$115 a month?!?! I pay $80 a month.

how so? 1000 mins - 59.99 + 30 data + 20 unl text + tax + insurance if i get it. thats like 115-125 probably even more after tax.

sprint is 69.99 for everything i need. plus tax so id say 80.

Yeah, Sprint has me wanting to switch for this phone. I pay 170 a month for two Iphone with 550 minutes, unlimited text and the data. Sprint gives me 1500 minutes, unlimited mobile to ANY mobile, nights and weekends starting at 7pm and free roaming on Verizon for about 120-130. It's almost a no brainer. The iphone is nice but the plans are crazy.

yeah exactly. plus with sprint i only need the 450 option because of the unlimited mobile to ANY mobile. sprint is a much better deal. i wish the new iphone was going to sprint. but idk im really leaning towards the evo now...

quick question: are android devices able to sync with itunes and your contacts from your mac?

i dont think they directly sync as an iphone would, but i know you can get music on them.

edit: and yeah the htc makes the iphone look very blahh. i like the freedom that android software gives you too. i was never too fond how the iphone os was such a closed program.

if this evo is as good as it looks and is supposed to be. its a no brainer for me now. iv been watching vids on it, and with the cheaper sprint plan i cant see myself going any other way.

DoubleTwist syncs to Android phones just fine. It will even import your iTunes library.

Since the Evo event is in May im going to guess that it will be out before the iPhone. Kind of how Palm did with the Pre.

Then we can get all of the articles, threads, and Apple fanboys talking about how much more the iPhone sold. Then get the Apple hater talking about how you can't compare a 4th gen with a 1st gen! lol :p

BTW, it probably won't be $69.99. There will be an added charge for 4G network use. Sprint isn't THAT stupid.

Jailbreak your iphone and you get best for BOTH worlds!

i doubt it..the 4g isnt really even going to be in use for a while. theres not near enough towers...thats more for a future thing or for those few people who are near 4g towers.

ill be willing to bet my plan will still be 69.99

and i dont hate apple lol. i love apple. i love my mac and i love my itouch. thats another thing i already have an itouch it would be nice to have a diff device with more freedom and to do diff things.

june 6 would be nice because my verizon contract ends may 28th and my birthday is on june 2nd.
