And charged £0.59 for it...

Is that even allowed...?

Tell you the truth.. Who cares? At least it's one step. I know he's working on the app and needs arn to get the project going but.. If this threads popularity isnt a testament to how much we need one then idk what is. My point, get moving with this already.

It's easy to just tell others to "get moving with this already", but not contribute anything yourself. There are technical issues (Tapatalk not supported, vBulletin API doesn't exist), and communication issues (I don't know how well communication with arn is going, but it doesn't seem to be great). Once these are resolved, the entire app has to be coded. I'm sure that your help is very welcome.

My point, making a good app is a whole lot more effort than sticking a UIWebView into a window and call it an app.

I know that. I don't relate care for the forums because the mobile version of it is good enough. But the mobile version of the site is horrible. Plus it would be nice to have push notifications. I know it takes time to make an app. But arn needs to know that there is a huge intrest in an app here. Put it on a to do list at least.

Saladinos is already working on "official" app but I doubt Arn isn't going to accept anything incomplete if it carries the name "official Mac Rumors app". Sticking the mobile version into an app and then charging 0.59£ for that ain't fair and I again doubt Arn or any other admin is going to accept that. I'm pretty sure Arn will publish an article about the app when it finally comes so it must be ready then.

This is one of those times I wish you could install 3rd party apps to iPhone so we could test the app before publishing :(:p

I do know this. I've been in this thread for a long time. Post about twice, and then just kept quiet. I know hes working on an app. I've seen the screenshots. It looks good for a 1.0 release. It dont need the forums right now. I'm just saying Arn should put this on his todo list.

Doesn't this violate the terms of service?

EDIT: No it doesn't, because MacRumors has no terms of service. But it should.

Macrumors iPhone app?

I swear I saw an iPhone app for MacRumors and today when I went searching for it, it was gone! Did it recently get removed? I'd love a MacRumors iPhone app, should've bought it when I first saw it..

I have never seen one, and unfortunately Mac Rumors uses vBulletin for the forums. VB has not released any forum apps like there much better competition has. That's not to say one specifically for Mac Rumors could not be made.

I find Macrumors runs and looks fantastic on the iphone 4. I use my phone to surf it and post on it more then my laptop now. Its fast and easy to read :)

I d'loaded it but I prefer the actual site. The iPhone 4's retina screen displays the web page amazingly well. Really isn't a need for an app.

There's an app for that. It's called Safari.

And I know how much you all loooove Safari. Anyone remember how the MR was? Was it an improvement over the web browsing experience?

Who's their competition?

Just got a call from Apple on my app I submitted. It was about the site in my sig, and sense the name has 'rumors' in it they don't want to allow it in the App store. They also said If I would like to remove any of the rumors from it and resubmit they will see what they could do. Now they seemed pretty easy on this issue but if it is focused on rumors then good luck.

What I'm sayin is, you may or may not get into the app store. Rumors is a touchy subject for them.
