Seriously, it's not cool to gloat about problems other people may be having with their phones. Rise above it.

Sucks for EVO owners :( I'd be so freaked out by the screen coming unglued I'd return it even if it showed no signs of coming loose.. it just seems far too unreliable in the long run.

Stench of desperation about this thread.

There was an issue with the Evo 4G whereby the screen would separate slightly causing the bottom part to become raised by about half a millimetre. No screens 'fell off'.

HTC were made aware of the issue and fixed it at the production level within a couple of weeks.

I looked at one at Best Buy while selecting a cover my iPhone 4. It's a overlarge piece of substandard parts. If that's what you prefer than go for it, I wouldn't be seen with one.

And to add insult to injury you have to pay for 4G service that doesn't even exist yet, except in a handful of areas and won't for a while yet.

I'm still confused why everyone gets mad if some electronic they bought is broken. Maybe it doesn't phase me since I worked in electronics retail (best buy and circuit city) and now work in IT so I see broken stuff ALL the time.

If it doesn't work, exchange or return it. Most electronics have a 6 months labor 12 months parts warranty or higher.

Not to mention because everyone likes good electronics at cheap prices, companies use mass production. These things will always happen in mass production and if you are an early adopter you will see it more. Not every bug/problem can be found in the lab because usually its only a small percentage of people affected and everyone else is fine, but on the internet everything gets blown out of proportion to make small problems look like huge issues.

If you want to play it safe, don't be an early adopter. Simple as that. I myself don't mind the gamble of early adoption since I know I can return the product if it doesn't work.

Here is why. Remember most of the newbies that are doing the majority of bitching and complaining don't actually have iPhones (nor have ever seen an actual iPhone 4). They are just roll playing as "reality" over reactors.

Never heard it said better.

Well I can't speak for everyone, but "just return/exchange it" is not always that easy. When I had problems with my iPhone 4, I had to choose between driving 3 hours to the nearest Apple store on my day off or shipping it to Apple and going a week without a phone. Either choice would cause major inconvenience.

HTC does not build great phones. Lucky for them Android came along when they were not married to an OS.

200 years ago, the nations unofficial slogan was "don't tread on me". That has changed to "don't inconvenience me"...

Perfection is desirable and preferable. But attaining perfection takes effort, money, and occasionally, time.

More like "you owe me," but different discussion on a different forum.

Why don't you post pictures of shattered iPhone 4's that have taken a 3foot fall? Build quality on iPhone 4 isn't any better.

You're kidding, right? That makes no sense.
"The build quality on the iPhone 4 is poor because when I drop it, the GLASS panels break."

The build quality on the phone is excellent. Saying what you said is like saying the build quality on your car sucks because you got into an accident and it needs bodywork.
Breakable ≠ Poor build quality

Oh I see that you joined in June 2010. How surprising.

just because someone joined last month does not make them a troll.

By that logic, everyone on this forum is a troll, because at some point, we all had been members for only a month

EVO has me questioning my choice

Hello Everyone. Yes i am new here to this forum. I have been an iphone user since the first one. I had cydia on my iphone before there was an app store. A long time before an official app store. I bought the latest iphone 4 and have mixed feelings.

I was hoping for something different i think. I didnt really know what. But something that could make my phone feel like i was getting a different experience again. Sort of like how i felt when i first got the iphone 2g. It may be that i have just gotten so bored from the same thing year after year.

I used to feel good to use my iphone in public. Now for some reason i actually feel a little embarrassed about it. I think the popularity of it combined with all the negative attention iphone users are starting to get has gotten to me. I try to ignore it but all the references to us being a bunch of fanboys and sheep may be getting to me.

So i was at a pre 4th of july cookout last night and a friend of mine was their with a HTC EVO. We were comparing the 2 phones and my iphone just seemed like a toy. I thought EVO having such a big screen was going to make it seem huge, but it really didnt. I tried to joke about the size and my friend tested me by putting both in my pockets (iphone in right EVO in left) and i really couldnt tell which phone was in which pocket. It seems the EVO is very very pocketable for having a 4.3 inch screen.

So then i pulled the "retina display" angle. Well when everyone was comparing the 2 phones they all agreed that the screen resolutions looked the same to us. In fact i hate to say it but web sites actually looked better on the EVO because the iphone browser cuts the amount of text down so much. Plus the browser scrolling on the iphone was so much slower for some reason.

Then our folder system just isnt a match for the widgets on the EVO. They really had a customizable UI. While we get page after page of icons.

I must say after this i am starting to wonder why we are stuck on this 3.5 inch screen? After all our iphone has such a huge bezel that i am sure apple could have stretched the screen some.

So do any of you iphone users that have been using the same phone for a few years now share in this feeling? Does it bother any of you that iphone comes with this perception and feeling of being controlled by Steve Jobs and apple?

Thanks guys..... I guess there is no perfect phone.

3 problems with the evo (well many more but I'll just state the 3 that make it unusable for me):

1. Sprint
2. Sprints unlimited plan actually limits you to 450 minutes to land lines and roaming.
3. The eve looks and feels like a cheap junky plastic phone.

I too left iPhone for the Evo but just 2 days ago returned the evo. The battery was terrible and 4g (las Vegas) was bad as well. I never saw 3 down. Plus it drains your battery. Love the android OS though. Hopefully when they build better phones I might go back. Until then my iPhone 4 murders my evo in just about every way possible.

You're seriously worried that people are whipering about you behind your back because of what phone you use?

Return your phone. Sell it. Get an Evo.
