That's a completely likely story.

I got another one:

You're walking into the AT&T/Apple store and see some weird looking dude with both hands in his mouth. You think to yourself 'Look at that idiot!'

Then, you see him put on a vest that says 'AT&T' So you say 'Haha, hopefully I don't have to see that guy'

You go and talk to some worker and he says 'Hold on, let me go get somebody for you.'

He comes back with the weird-looking guy and says 'This is tom, the manager, I bet he can help you out today!'

Your world has ended.

Yeah but you can't leave the store with an 'Unlocked' iPhone.

They put all of your SIM data on it.

Then, you activate it with your Carrier when you get on iTunes.

When you order from Apple, this is already done I believe. That's why you had to select number of texts, data plan, enter phone number, etc.

my phone is still sitting in KY, shouldn't it be on it's way to Southern California by now? I'm having it delivered to my work.
?

My Phone has been in KY for two days now and If i don't see any progress to Wisconsin soon im going to start to worry

I noticed on my ups site notice that they did not change the lower part but in the top part of the page it said it had arrived at the city of delivery.

But can't they just hand you a sim card, you select your plan, and send you on your way?

same with me! but its either they got the wrong email address from me or they havent gone through all the shipments :(

Mine was delivered to the store at 11:04 am and I got the email at 2:30 pm.

Still waiting on a personal call from the store. I was in there yesterday and they said in addition to the email, a store employee will call me to let me know that it arrived.

For all of us Bay Area iPhone 3G S recipients, I believe our iPhones are going to be on this flight out of Kentucky.

My i850 nextel phone is on its last charge!!!

We should have a funeral pyre for all the old phones.

(Actually I'm going to hold on to my old phone in case I ever break or lose my iPhone, Jobs forbid.. But I'll be happy to watch everyone else burn theirs!)

It's about effin' time...

Finally! I had no updates all week. This just popped up this afternoon. I ordered on Saturday, June 13th, from apple.com, btw.

Middletown, PA seems to be the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast hub, because everything I order from Apple comes through there. And it always gets to my house in VA the day after it goes thru Middletown...:)

Wheeee!!

I haven't been so OCD about tracking since I ordered my laptop a year ago. I'm surprised I didn't single-handedly bring down UPS's tracking servers.

ETA: This is for the phone I ordered in store on the 13th. The one I ordered online from AT&T on the 12th has had absolutely no status updates.

Me, too, since apparently your iphone is on a FedEx truck! ;)
j/k

No, I wish, but then the iPhone would still be 'Unlocked' Which allows it to be with other Carriers.

So no, you can't do that.

The phone being locked has nothing to do with the activation in an AT&T store. They come locked to AT&T from the factory.....

Well if nothing else, surely they will let me geek out for a minute and unbox my own phone. I already have my Incase Slider waiting for the phone, so maybe I'll throw that on it too before they touch it! haha.

Yeah that's what I thought. Like they should have the IMEI number noted on your account, and the SIM card number (or something?)
... maybe I'm wrong
