My $.02 about downsizing from a plus to the SE.

I'm really liking the phone.
One handed operations are a snap, which makes my life and commute a lot better. Carrying it is great, no more issues about being in my pockets.

Surfing is hampered, I'm not a big web browser so I'm not overly worked up over this. Game play is ok, some games better then others.

Texting took some time, but I've largely adjusted to the smaller keyboard.

Update: After a week with the SE, I found that my device lineup has been simplified. The 4 inch phone has a nice design, and comparable battery life to boot. (As compared to my 6S Plus. For my usage, I am at around 75% to 80% after a day at the office. This is around this level my 6S plus would be at the end of the day at the office.) My trend was to use the SE for quick social media checks, calls and text messages, and light web browsing. I found I was going to my iPad mini 4 way more for heavier tasks like media consumption, long term web browsing, email, and reading. I think the SE is a good break from the 6S Plus. I don't miss much of the missing features either, though the 6S Plus is one of my favorite iPhones of all time.

Bottom line: I am keeping my SE. My wife didn't like the size of her SE, so we are returning it, and she is using my 6S Plus. This is a great device for those who use multiple like-sized Apple devices (Say a Plus phone and an iPad mini) to really clear the blur that a "phablet" creates. If you want an all in one solution, and don't want to buy an iPad, then the 6S Plus will be a great phone for you!

And this is why I'll stick with my 6S+. I got sick of always having to carry my iPad Mini 4 LTE while I was out. I don't carry a man bag or back pack so it was always hand carried. Glad you guys like the SE though. It just wasn't the right device for my life style.

I work full time and a full time student, so I constantly have my backpack with me to make carrying my iPad mini 4 convenient. At the end of the day, it is down to a lifestyle preference. Great Post!

Just "downgraded" to the SE. One handed use is phenomenal. No more double tapping the home button to reach the top. Battery life is really good too. But, I see myself going to the 4.7" iPhone when the 7 comes out. A little more screen real estate would be nice. The 6S just doesn't have enough battery life either.

The prefect setup is a smaller iPhone for your pocket, and some type of iPad for web browsing and video consumption. The 6S Plus can do both, but it gets old carrying around that large phone all the time.

It is next to impossible not to notice one is carrying around a large smartphone especially with dress pants or slim jeans.

I fixed that.:)

I'm considering making this move, as the 6S Plus I've been using a while now is a tad unwieldy. That's all well and good around the house, but out and about it isn't the smoothest experience. I have a lot of love for the 5/5S design, so the SE is pretty appealing to me.

That being said, the 6+/6S+ have their perks. I'm curious if any others that were in my position and made the jump have regretted it at all. Any negatives come up, or has it been smooth sailing?

I have a 6S Plus right now and I've had a SE for a few days (but eventually returned it). I may eventually go back to the SE in a couple of months. I still have a little trouble with the size of the 6S Plus. At times, it is overwhelming in public and I prefer having a smaller device. I may end up getting a SE and iPad Mini for home. I only got the 6S Plus to use as my phone and entertainment device (2 for 1).

I'm interested on others experience with coming from a 6s plus to SE as well. I currently have an 6s plus but I'm thinking about about stepping down to a SE (even though I was initially against apple coming out with a 4 inch phone)

I plan on travelling during the summer and I don't see the plus being that practical as I'll be out doors a lot.

I leaning towards a SE but worried if I'll feel like an ant using SE.

I just went from a 6 plus to the SE. No problem at all FOR ME. It all depends on what your priorities are. You either want/need a big screen or want/need a smaller device for pocketability/ease of use. You can't have both. There is no right or wrong here, contrary to some peoples opinions around here. I'm loving the SE. I don't watch movies or try to use my phone as a laptop so that makes it easier for someone like me to use a smaller device. My parents, who are in there 70s and have 6 pluses, would never go back to a 4" device. It's a personal choice that only YOU can make.

I had the 6s+ for a short time. Size was the over riding issue for me as well. When the SE was announced I almost made the purchase, but went to the Verizon store to hold the 6s. I have the 5s at home and brought that one with me to gauge which was better for me. Verizon had a promotion of $100 off the upgrade ($549.00) after going back to a flip phone until the new purchase. 6s size was only .7 inch more than the SE, and with the promotion it was a no brainer, so I bought the 6s. Three weeks now with the slightly larger size of the 6s, and for me only, I am well pleased.

Remember OP, it doesn't matter what we think or want, it's what you want.

For $150 more over the SE. I'll bite

.7 inch larger screen Tad easier to text for me
Barometer I do stair climbing
Better rear facing camera Rare but I do like to have a better front facing camera
3D Touch screen Not much use, but on occasion
Retina HD screen over a Retina screen OK I guess
Dual-domain pixels for wide viewing angles Haven't notice this much
1400:1 contrast ratio Nicer to have
2nd Generation Touch ID Really like this over the SE or 5s
Display Zoom Aging eyes
LTE Advanced3 ??

Truthfully, the only way you'd notice the difference in screen quality between the SE/5S and the 6/6S is if you look at them side by side. There's no doubt that the screen is brighter and crisper on the 6S. I think the SE's screen is fine (minus the yellow tint issues), but now that I'm used to my 6S and had a 6, the difference is more noticeable to me.

As far as LTE Advanced, that probably won't have much real world significance for some time, as cell providers haven't upgraded their infrastructures to support such speeds, with maybe a handful of test markets.

Went from 6S Plus to SE, not a single regret from me.

How did you find watching youtube videos and browsing the Web? I'm getting tempted by the SE but I'm concerned if my Web browsing experience is going to feel downgraded coming from the 6s plus.

I work from home on my computer all day, I have an iPad Pro 9.7 for when I'm not in the home office and when I'm out and about I usually don't have time to be looking at stuff on my phone.

At most I check fb, twitter, snapchat and instagram on my iPhone if I'm not within arms reach of my iPad.

No problem for me, you can zoom or use the reader feature for browsing.

The caveat though is how much browsing overall will you do? If it makes a large percentage of what you will do with the SE, I would raise a caution flag. My vision isn't great and I am not getting eye strain or headaches but I do not browse for long periods of time.

I watched some of the Masters golf tournament on the SE, no problem but it is not optimal because of screen size but one needs to remember even 5.5" smartphones aren't like watching it on an iPad either.

Great post. It's actually a great point. The 6s Plus isn't big enough to give an immersive tablet experience and it's too big to use comfortably as a phone unless you have large hands. It occupies this odd in between space. I can definitely see how going to the SE/iPad mini combo would make for a better experience. The 6s Plus is sort of a compromise of sorts.

Yep, I'm using the SE/Mini 4 combo....they are both the perfect sizes for me.

I began my journey into this world with a full-sized iPad, but after buying each new generation for a few years I got tired of the size and got a Mini 2. Never looked back.....it even fits in my front pocket of my pants for transport (I do have to take it out before getting in my car). I'm now at the Mini 4, and it's what I use on the go for all my entertainment consumption .....web browsing, games, videos, etc.

I started at the iPhone 5, and loved the size of that phone from day one. I didn't want to upgrade to 6 because of the larger size, but Apple Pay and other features seduced me. I regretted the size every day, as I've always used my cell phone as a cell phone....to receive and send calls, texts, and emails. Even texting on the larger screen was actually harder for me than on my iP5.

I can only hope that Apple continues to give us the choice of smaller phones. IMHO, phablets are definitely a compromise from what I personally want out of a comfortable cell phone or a portable entertainment consumption device.

Made the jump just a bit ago - I'll give it a few days to assess, but so far so good! The initial shock at the size difference is pretty huge, but in a good way.

It is a no for me.. Media consumption is really bad on 4" phone. I used previously iphone 5s and Ipad mini. I never use ipad mini anymore on 6s plus.

If you have, what were the reasons?

Because I'm tempted to sell off my 6S Plus off eBay etc and buy a SE out right.

After owning a 6S Plus for about 6 months, I think the novelty of the large screen has worn off for me. As much as I love it, I notice I use my phone way too much and the size of it is starting to annoy me lol (hard to put into work trousers or jeans).

I also have a deal with O2 (UK provider), after 1 year I can trade in my old phone and upgrade. I'm 6 months in already and no doubt the iPhone 7 is coming out this year.

Only the O2 deal is holding me back :(

I can certainly see your point in wanting a smaller phone.

In the U.S., we have already seen offers of US$100 off on the iPhone SE? That's 25% off of the 16 GB model.

Any chance of you buying a 16 GB model outright and keeping the 6S plus as a backup phone / micro tablet?

Might as well wait and see what the 7 will offer before deciding at this point. Don't know your factor of dealing with the size annoyance thingie though.

I recall a couple of 6s+ users switching who responded in the 'SE upgrade ' thread...

Lol, I already have an iPad Mini that I hardly use now due to the 6S Plus.

Ah, sometimes I wish I can get US prices in the UK :(

Yea I guess you're right.

I think it's just me then. I wear fitted trousers to work or jeans so stick the 6S Plus in the front pockets looks ridiculous sometimes lol

Thanks, maybe I will look though it.

Being a hard core smartphone enthusiast that's fortunate not to be limited by budget, I have all current model iPhones. Each has its distinctive advantages. I can thoroughly understand the lure of a tiny iPhone like the SE if a larger display isn't needed.

No one knows better than you, just what's most important. I'd say migrating to an SE may indeed be a very smart choice.
