is it possible to view my friend's pictures in the main window itself?
it is annoying that i have to double click on their name first and then be able to see their display pictures.

It's impossible to do that i think...
The program itself is annoying so just dump it away...

such a rubbish upgrade from the last version

i've already started using mercury again

Yeah i've tested mecury before and i deleted it, recently, i've just reinstalled the thing, it's alright but i find it a bit slow...so i'm currently still using Adium and sometimes Proteus...

Are you sure you can recieve custom emotes because I cant see any of my friends ones :( it just comes up with the text that is used for the emote.

If it would just do this it would be fine for me.

Gee..this sucks... :(

Apart from DIsplay Pictures and the so called Coporate thing, i don't see any features that would make any Mac user happy with this LONG awaited MSN messenger...

Well, after using it two days now I have had no unexpected disconnects on a wireless network... I happen to like the look, even though one window seems to take up the entire screen.

I am seriously looking foward to MSN 6/MS Messenger 6 and hopefully it will had more end-user friendly.

Ye me too, but will probably be a long time coming! And when it does come it better have FULL compatibility and features that the Windows version has.

Forever hopeful.

Either that or MS will be upset by Apple's upswing in new-sales market share and not release a new version in retaliation similar to the way there has been no Office for Linux or MSN Messenger for Linux.

Come to think of it, they probably have a "backup plan" similar to Apple's in that there is a full-featured version of Office for each of the major Linux distributions ready to go at Gate's word.

I certainly have no high hopes for Microsoft Messenger 6 whatsoever...it'll end up as a dissapointment...

I doubt there'll even be Microsoft Messenger 6 for Mac...
I think the guys at Microsoft needs quite "some" time to work on a new one since they took quite a "while" to release this Microsoft Messenger 5 that's said to have "major" improvements...
At the end, who cares, unless video capabilities or audio capabilities or else, stay away from it...

I don't understand all the disappointment, we knew what was coming. We knew it would be a crap upgrade months ago.

Yes, but we had definately hoped that because of the delay they had decided to integrate some better features for everyone. Instead, it is excactly what we had thought it would be. Crap.

Agreed it is crap but there isnt that annoyingly large advert that plagues the PC version. There isnt actually anything I like about msn 5 and I did try really hard to like something. Even the startup screen with the spinning thing looks poor. They should have kept that in the standard mac black colour.

Im still trying to get the corporate tag off. I would rather have the space freed up than have the personal/corporate tags there. When you appear offline the Dock icon doesnt even change anymore?? Also is it just me or is the metallic look a different shade to the rest of the metallic look on mac os. Here I'm thinking when you like buy a cheap electronic gadget and you realise its not metal but plastic with metal paint ontop!

I wonder if the Windows programmes were paid for this version at all? If this is the best they can do then we dont want their charity. Im sorry I have nothing positive to say about this upgrade. I'm about to take it off my machine.

Hark at you, with your crystal ball

My word, some of you guys are very critical – not to say picky – of something that's (a) Free, and (b) Free!

I realise that's only one point, but it's such a good one, I thought it deserved making twice :p

Just wondering if anyone else is coming across this problem.

If i chat to someone and send alot of messages, after a while something strange happens. The person I'm chatting to sends a message but all I is their face/icon an a blank line. Its accompanied by a thud sound to. The only remedie appears to be closing the app and logging back on.

Is anyone elese experiencing these dud message problems?

thanks
jason

It's not as simple as that unfortunately! If you have Microsoft's communications server then hurrah! You're in luck! If not then you're still stuck with MSN client.
