Inflation is just getting started. You haven't seen anything yet, give it another year..... then shortages of everything. My friends grandpa said of the Great Depression "We had money, it didn't matter, there was NOTHING TO BUY."
Normally I'd agree, but the one good unintended thing about the move to apple silicon is that there seems to be way more big name retailers that are offering huge discounts on the retail price that apple charges compared to the intel versions, while at the same time apple reduce their discounts for edu, epp etc. . Not too sure if this is to gain traction in the market or if it will continue remains to be seen.Last June Apple did the same with the M1 MacBook Air in many countries.
They don't require a FB account any more starting in August, I think.I sold my Quest 2 when they forced users to link a FB account. Hard pass.
Patiently waiting on PlayStation’s offering.
Well it's been reported that Meta VR division is losing tons, and while they have been selling pretty well (about 15 million sold), the margin on the Q2 was always pretty thin (or nonexistent). So this could just be a way to help get a little more money coming in. But you're right, it doesn't make a lot of sense. The device is almost two years old at this point, and I think they are probably on the downward slope, as many are probably waiting for something with better specs, not the same specs at a higher price.I know Meta is terrible, but this seems bizarre even for them. A $100 price increase is a 1/3 of the former total price of the product, surely that can't be blamed entirely on inflation and increased manufacturing costs?

The Quest 2 is and with the price hike still is the cheapest VR headset on the market. Standalone, built in hand tracking, has a wealth of high quality VR games and apps (many of them exclusives,) and can be used as a PCVR headset via a link cable plugged into your PC or wirelessly via AirLink. Ever since it released it was the obvious choice for the majority of users since the Valve Index requires a large playspace, sensors mounted to walls, and costed $1000, and also could only be used on PC. The requirement for a Facebook account was a big negative and I know turned many away, but fortunately that is going away next month. Are people actually dumb enough to buy these things?
The new headset Project Cambria (AKA the Quest Pro) is going to cost over $1000 and is geared for enterprise customers. The Quest 3 is not coming for a long while so there's no old stock to sell off.I know what’s going on the new one is coming and they want to sell off all the old stock so by making it more expensive everyone will buy it now before it goes up, cleaver marketing
