Yes getting close to release time, mine is working smooth now, zero issues. Still lots of features disabled and when I click on it it asks if I want to switch to old outlook to use them
It was released this week with Tuesday’s updates. Unfortunately it’s so incomplete, it should not have been released. Many lost features are months away.

The good thing is that there's a switch to go back and forth between the new version and the old version it needed.

I really like having a calendar view and snooze feature in my personal email. I'm not interested in the Spark and Airmails of the world.

With a MS365 subscription and a hotmail.ca account I'm going to give Outlook a long term look.

Not so fast! There are currently still 481 features in development - that is a lot. Though MS promotes it as "preview" of the new Outlook - it misses way too many primary features for it to have been rolled out this way. I beta test Mac OS and IOS software....Apple would never release a developer beta that misses that many fundamental functions. Microsoft did not even go through the hassle of warning you when you toggle the little icon to "New Outlook" that it is an early beta...you need to read supporting documentations to find out:

- No full Exchange Support (what? without Exchange support there is no Outlook duhh)

- Notes and Tasks not yet supported

- Gmail and IMAP mail set-up not yet supported

- Shared calendars not supported

- Countless functions like re-sending an email and the flagging of emails not fully functioning and so on...

MS did publish a roadmap to the full release but that is unfortunately BS. It was written way back and never updated. It lists roll-out dates for features that have long passed without the feature having been rolled out. Gee...you'd think a company like Microsoft would have a better handle on this. So to all of the people who are listing missing features....MS knows....you just did not know that they rolled out what could best be described as a pre-beta version.

As for the UI design....that is a question of taste and it happens to not be mine. Its too cute...almost like Microsoft is targeting non enterprise individual users to switch away from google or Apple mail to Outlook. Hmmm....

"almost like Microsoft is targeting non enterprise individual"

Like I said, for my personal Hotmail email.

For business we use Gsuite/Gmail. I use a Chrome browser for my business calendar/task/email. Works great though I do prefer an email client.

Saw the "new Outlook" just had an update again (16.43.20110105), but I think it still doesn't support iCloud or IMAP. Can anyone confirm? Has anyone heard when it might?

they must be still piecemealing these out, haven't seen this yet.

Edit: oops, on the wrong update channel. ;)

16.43 is not a released version as of yet, you have one of the "insider" versions. The roadmap to add new features to the "new Outlook" is long and slow. It looks like iCloud is scheduled for this month, with IMAP scheduled for December: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=Mac

If anyone hears of iCloud support for New Outlook, please post here. I'm eager to try (although right now mostly loving Postbox).

Has the current version of Outlook that can be found in the App Store the ability to look like the image at the top of this post?

You can have this now with a 365 account on 'insider slow' beta testing. I am interested to know whether it will be for all accounts.

Thanks for your reply.

Just did a clean install of Big Sur and I'd rather not install anything beta on it. Also, seeing that Outlook itself is almost an 800MB program I'll probably stick with Apple's Mail app for the time being.

It's not necessary to be on an insider account to use the "new Outlook." Users should see a toggle in the top bar of the Outlook window. Currently it only supports Microsoft 365 accounts.

Thanks for the correction. I did not know that as I run insider all the time, and it wasn't there last time I checked.

Tried the new Outlook & thought it was horrific.

Mind you , everything is horrific when you have used Spark and the native macOS mail app. Email apps just needs to be kept simple & work across multiple platforms.

Microsoft: We made it pretty!

Enterprise users: Can we have feature-parity with the Windows version? It's been almost 20 years since Voting Buttons were introduced in Outlook 2003 and we still don't have them in Outlook Mac.

Microsoft: No, we made it pretty!

Seriously, enterprise users just want feature parity.
Microsoft, Please stop removing features for the sake of interface design. This looks like some kind of facebook feed. Some of us actually use outlook for more than sending chain emails to our kids or pinterest recipes.

MS: We made it pretty.

Mac User: Well, pretty for Windows standards, but you're totally ignoring Mac UI standards and guidelines. Again.

MS: But it looks so cool if you only judge it on screenshots for 2 seconds.

Mac User: Microsoft the ADHD of UI design…

Got Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word updates today. Haven't noticed what's changed yet, and don't remember where Microsoft posts release notes. I wish they would give info in the AutoUpdate app.

Release notes are usually available from Microsoft:
(At the moment it seems that the last update is the December 2020 one from some weeks ago.)
