I was "raised" on SwiftKey when it wasn't owned by Microsoft. It's vastly superior to Gboard on Android and the Android version is almost night and day different on iOS. However, it's not perfect but better than any stock keyboard. I wish I could like the other keyboards, but despite all its imperfections on both platforms, SwiftKey is the best of the bunch.

I'm at a loss though why Microsoft felt it was necessary to discontinue it. But I'm glad there was pressure on them to bring it back and they actually listened. If only they'd do the same with Windows 11 or 10.

I expect Gboard to be discontinued for iOS any day now. There haven’t been any significant updates for years.
They actually released a Testflight beta the other week with minor bug fixes so doubt they'll bin it so quickly after this.

Great news about SwiftKey anyway. Hopefully there'll be a new beta for that soon, too!

If iOS had a decent keyboard, this wouldn't even be an issue. I would rather have an iOS keyboard with an optional number row and multi-punctuation key than a "dynamic island." That and USB-C. Sadly, that would've been progress.

iOS...............................................Gboard........................................Gboard - hold period for punctuation

How tf does your gboard look like that, with its number row separated! And you even have dot and comma separate button, I gotta pres 123 button in order to get to them...also some settings of gboard are broken, turning stuff on does not seem to work for some options...

If you had SwiftKey already installed when it was taken out of the app store you could still use it.
But that's what I'm sayin tho, I installed it AFTER it was supposedly removed from the app store...Maybe apps don't get treated the same way depending on your location.

As someone who speaks English and swedish. Swiftkey is the best keyboard for me and I find its predictions to be exceptionally good.

Easily one of the most game changing all that I have downloaded for an iOS device.

Pffft now that I've spent MONTHS getting used to the built-in keyboard, they make a U-turn? Classic Microsoft....

All these years later and it's as clear as ever as to why Microsoft failed in mobile.

WTF are they doing out there?

I've yet to see a surface duo in person as well just to throw salt on the wound.

That Gboard screenshot is from the Pixel 7 Pro, not Gboard for iOS.

This is good news, I’m really hoping for cloud clipboard support between iOS and Windows. This was announced in 2017 and never delivered.

More work? Swiping down once to get the timer? In what situation do you need to the see the timer obsessively? The whole point of a timer is to tell you when a certain amount of time has passed. If you need to constantly look to see how much time you have left, then perhaps staring at the clock is best. I just don't see what the great innovation of the dynamic island is. It's just another gimmick like the Touch Bar.

I hate double pressing for Apple Pay. I want the payment action to be deliberate so swiping down IMO is much better. The power button should just be for powering a phone on/off. Having to press the power button and volume up/down to turn the phone off is stupid.
It's not about obsessively checking, it's about checking at a glance. You said having the timer in the top left is useful, I can't understand why you think having it say how long is left is worse? You're not making any sense at all.

If you hate double pressing for Apple Pay, turn it off in Settings. You can very easily just deliberately access it from the app.

Is it me or is the default autocorrect on iOS broken?

Compared to Google we’re in the dark ages.
Still, I never use third party keyboards because the iOS implementation also leaves a lot to be desired in terms or reliability.
It is 100% broken.

Autocorrect and voice to text on iOS is 10 years behind Android. It’s so painful in comparison when I’m going back and forth between phones. I never really have any issues with either on my Pixel.

I have three languages on the stock iOS keyboard. Honestly, this run for subscriptions just drove me back to everything that is stock unless it’s needed for work.
I don’t mind if sometimes stock keyboard makes a mistake between the three languages, or it doesn’t show the number row, I can live without it.
I cut on all apps and subscriptions unless they are life changing, no problems if from free they become subscription based, or they get deleted like in this case, or they sell everything to a data miner. Keep it simple.
But that’s just my opinion that works for me.

Pixels and the Galaxy S series phones are amazing and get 4 years of updates.
Those are the only two options. But I’m not a big fan of Samsung phones, and Pixels get three years of beta tests. I trust Google the least of all the OS vendors to provide a good stable experience.
