Gates tried to cash (push) him out of Microsoft for a few hundred grand. Mr. Allen was smart enough to avoid getting screwed. Glad he gave back so much of what he earned. RIP.

RIP. He was a great sci fi guy that opened the museum in Seattle. He really gave so much of his earnings back to the community.
Not to mention one of the worlds largest private ships he used for ocean research

One of his companies founded ZDTV which became TechTV, the very first all computer TV network. I think that put computers into the spotlight as being something we can all enjoy, not just nerds and gamers.
RIP Paul Allen. Screw cancer! I hope we find a way to cure it soon.

I feel awful. I never really heard much about this guy before this, but I never really followed the Microsoft story all that closely. It's sad to see a guy who had so much positive impact gone.

He was an incredible engineer and very inspiring for so many in the technology space. The fact that he was a person at the core of his art he used his efforts to help all people, dare I say he convinced Bill Gates that wealth in and of itself isn’t the end goal. He showed Gates and many others that wealth has a responsibility to use it to better others lives.
He was a good man and a good person through and through. No scandals no BS, just a good heart.
