I respect your opinion but I still think majority would rather save $20 today and buy the cheaper one then spend $20 more in hope that there will be a better product because they recognized product's inventor...

which largely explains why both the US and the UK are in post industrial meltdown.

I am not the greatest fan of general motors - but i don't want them to go under.

Consumers make the world go round - not companies.

If we buy cheap and skimp on the innovation - we are heading for a negative feedback loop of depression era proportions.

Another great zune software feature on the pc

if you watch a video onthe closest to "full screen" as it gets, and you press the 'exit' button, it returns you to the main screen - but keeps the video 'playing' in the task bar at the bottom.

When i say playing - I mean the time keeps going up - but the thumbnail image doesn't change.

You can click on it again and go back the "nearly full screen" mode, but the programme has been playing all the time you have been in the main screen.

Now, I have been drinking steadily for several hours now - and even now I like to think i might have flagged that up as a rather pointless and aggravating function.

What do they sprinkle on the doughnuts at Redmond - Ketamine?

--------------

Addendum - just checked the playback quality against windows media player - and it is visibly blockier. VERY VISIBLY.

But sadly there is no 'right click' option in the library window to "open with", so you have to click properties, open the folder and find the video you want to play in WMP id you want to see it fill screen and not recreated in lego.

Now - if the seamless integration of ipod and itunes has been seen as a strong foundation for brand satisfaction, the lessons haven't been learned.

If you don't like people picking holes in poor products, this may be a forum you are happier to live without.

Personally I am tired of the huge lag in opening my iphone camera - but ON BALANCE - I am blimmin glad I have one because the rest is so lovely.

Not really...
Its a completely different design just cos it has a screen and is silver and rectangle...
I don't think its a bad design but I bet the onboard software won't be as good as the iPhone, nore will zune be as good as iTunes (I already tried it... quit a while ago)... the design also needs neatening up but they won't do that..
I actually know one person with a Zune so I can safely say they sold at least 1.

I completely disagree when you say that it matter to end user where a company gets its idea from...
Ok -- I think there are two thoughts here. One is saving $20. The other is a matter of ethics.

Firstly, what is this saving $20 theory that is going on here. No one's saving anything. The ZuneHD will be the same price as the iPod Touch. If the Touch goes up in price, so will the Zune. If it goes down, down goes Zune. MS is not making enough on these to try and undercut Apple by $20 so stop dreaming.

Now on to ethics. In my opinion, competition could dictate anything that can't be protected in court. That's why Apple's down at the patent office 10 times a day. If Apple can't win a court case over a patent, then Microsoft (and Palm) and anyone else should be able to do whatever, I think, in order to stay competitive. However, I say, be inventive while your using the IP. Now, if Apple CAN protect itself in court, it should be able to sue Ballmer's and Rubenstein's balls off.

someone here on macrumors said:
What would you buy: an iPod touch as it is now or any other product which is exact replica of iPod touch and does everything it does for like $ 20 less??
I think most people would save $20 if they were buying the same exact thing. Sure, if it was just as convenient. Sometimes convenience is worth $20. But this is a (very very) stupid hypothetical question. Who's making this EXACT REPLICA? Some company in Southeast Asia? How do you KNOW it's an EXACT REPLICA? I sure as hell wouldn't buy it. When it crapped the bed, Apple wouldn't fix it. The parts are compromised in order to sell it cheaper. The $20 is not worth the worry.

Now if you're comparing ZuneHD and the iPod Touch, we'll have to wait and see, 'cause the thing ain't released yet and the updated Touch is not out yet. Also, we don't know if Apple will file suit on MS and Palm. That's still quite possible. Also, the ZuneHD won't be able to "does everything it does" or the same way. It doesn't have the App store and it ain't Apple. I think the Palm Pre stands a better chance of being decent competition for the iPhone before I'd believe the Zune's going to give the Touch any grief. And only because Palm has ex-Apple hardware guru, Jon Rubenstein. What does MS got?

Now on to Karma. Screw Karma.

Ahem - I would be REALLY careful about what you say.

Do you understand what Karma is?

What you do unto Karma - Karma will do unto you. :D

Watch "the power of nightmares" by adam curtis and see what half a century of karma did to the new york skyline.

Are you for real? The P3 doesn't have integrated WiFi for a start.

That would be an "innovation"

He asks a fair question though - has there been collaboration with samsung with the OLED?

No shame if there is - samsung have a reasonable reputation for making things.

lol, zunes make me laugh.

Let Microsoft enjoy it, while I am enjoying my iPod touch

Yes, thats why I stated "...Typical of MS to rework an existing product..."

So what you're saying is that because it shares some common features that the P3 has that it's a reworking? So I guess because the Cowon S9 has an AMOLED touchscreen it's also reworking that? Or is it the Sony Walkman X?

Or maybe you just don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about? I mean feel free to point me to a source that shows clearly where MS have taken the P3 and reworked it and I'll say "fair enough" otherwise I'm just going to have to assume your another clueless anti-MS fanboy.

Up to you really.

Its a possibility, though

Microsoft have less experience in the consumer gadget dept - so it makes sense to outsource expertise.

I can't wait for E3 to see what kind of games it can play. But it can't compare to the Touch because you cannot download apps and stuff or can you?

MS does not have the skill nor talent for hardware design. It's the very reason why the Zune"marketing bs tag "HD is knocked right of the P3.

Right as if I have the privilege on accessing product MS documentation.

True. When Apple releases a product, like the iPhone, Touch or MBP. Its always followed by an extensive amount of product development materials. From Videos to copy written in laymen terms. It's shown for all to see the product from conceptual designs to actual product construction. Same with their OS.

Microsoft just gives out images and bullet points of their products. Along with typical Marketing speak.

you seem a sane person to me...I was just having a discussion with some other guy on here....and saving $20 or exact replica of iPod touch was purely hypothetical...

all I wanted to say was that it does not matter to end user if the product was made by apple or MS or any other company as long as it works (BRANDING IS WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY) I mean lets say any other company other than Apple came out with iPhone..would you guys what bash on it then just because Apple was not the one to create it. Because looking at most comments here people are bashing at Zune because MS is planning to make it...if the logo on the back of that picture was Apple it would have turned into sexy looking gadget but otherwise its ugly looking thing

I see your true colors shinning throughhhh....

MS isn't a hardware company....not that they don't have the talent or skill.

They have always reached out to HARDWARE companies to assist them in any hardware they need.

You're just being difficult cause you are on a roll right now.

It's not you. It's the iPhone. When you type on the phone and in a forum, with the screen is split between keyboard and a little space above to see what you have typed. Like right there, hitting spacebar twice did not insert a period if i turn on sound, the iphone typing lags, off I won't hear if a space gets inserted when I know it should. Plus auto correct messes it up a bit.

Peace.

I
I hope it's only me, but in almost all of your posts I have difficulty understanding your sentences. I value your input, so please don't take this the wrong way and interpret it as an insult, but maybe sometimes some punctuation etc. would help getting your point across.

Ok.

Entirely possible. Using similar components is not the same as rebranding though.

Meh, no way they can compete with the iPod touch and the app store. Apple has the huge advantage with the popular iTunes and App store...I hate zunes. iPods all the way :)
