This particular product may not appeal to me, however there is absolutely no denying that Microsoft has been killing it over the last few years. Props to them!

Edit: Surprised they're going for this approach again with 10 S, considering how hard Windows RT flopped.

That's because they're the new Apple. They are doing some truly innovative things, and coming up with some absolutely killer products. Windows 10 isn't half bad either.

Although it looks nice I must say that grass looking thingy is probably not something I am interested in...
Sucks oils and probably impossible to clear...
It's like Superman wearing a speedo on top of his pants after showing some nice pectorals and muscles all over his body - he almost got it....

Eh... this is just me... it's a matter of taste of course.

But it does look nice overall - minus the speedo..

i think it's too much for too little spec wise. it's a NICE looking machine and when you think surface, it looks like a decent deal but the specs are not up to par. mind you, while I'm a huge mac fan, I have openly said the surface book is awesome.

Looks good...

...wait... cut down version of the OS? I can't install Chrome? Sublime? I have to presumably buy a full version of Windows at Retail price?

... no HiDPI screen?

Ah well. It started out interesting.

A cut down version of OSX would be perfect for pros. We don't want Dashboard, Facetime, iBooks etc etc etc ad nauseum. We want an OS that runs fast and slick. We want all that dross in the App Store for free for those who want it. Now on Sierra I can't even bin that stuff like I could way back in Snow Leopard days. Apple presumes too much too often.

And you never need any more than 1080 on a laptop.

Rubbish. Doing things different doesn't mean they're "truly innovative". Doing things that people enjoy using is innovative.

Windows 10 is an unusable mess.

Absolutely not true.

Half the planet is still on 7 for a reason.

This is true, but I'd argue it's mostly down to companies just not bothering to update software. It's seldom that a company will update to every latest version of the software it runs on a daily basis.
[doublepost=1493749109][/doublepost]Lighter, thinner, faster (and cheaper) than any MacBook currently on sale. What exactly are Apple playing at? The daylight robbery that is their products becomes clearer and clearer each time somebody else brings out a new device.

$1k is still to expensive though
True, but for one, schools will not pay that price when they buy them in bulk, and second Microsoft's hardware always has a premium price. They probably do this intentionally to avoid undercutting other PC vendors and putting the Windows OEM market at risk.

You've either never tried Windows 10 after you gave up on Windows 8 (which was an unusable mess), or you're spewing nonsense to start an argument.

Windows 10 is actually a very good, stable and fast OS. The only place I hear people complain about it is on Apple related forums. Go figure.

I guess using your logic, 80 percent of the planet uses Android, so that means iOS is an unusable mess?

Presumably it's the same material that they use on the Surface Pro keyboard, which doesn't have any such issues. It feels very comfortable actually.

Arc Mouse is the best product design to ever come out of MS and they did it 7 years ago but very few have noticed it unfortunately. Ergonomically it kills Apple mouse, it has a proper arc that actually fits very well in your hand. Sure its a gimmick mouse much like Apple mouse and various Logitech touch mice but it's the best one on the market, best looking, most practical and most useful.

They are sticking to proven design.

Microsoft creating well designed, desirable products and an evolving integrated cloud offering. This can only be good for competition and hence the consumer. In content, hardware, software, apps, home automation and personal assistants there is strong aggressive, well funded competition at the moment - maybe we will once again see an Apple that behaves like an IT company creating products that fosters well-deserved, lifelong brand loyalty rather than a fashion brand for the well-heeled.

the guy that was introducing the laptop wrote on the screen with the Surface pen and he had to support the back of the Surface laptop with his hand, at that point that's where it failed!

It's nice as a compact travel mouse, but IMO can't compete with a "real" mouse. The problem is that due to the empty space under the arc the grip (thumb and pinky) is not good.

The Surface laptop is 2.76lbs and 14.47mm thick. The MacBook is 2.03lbs and 13.1mm thick.
