Why?
And: Can Edge also synch all bookmarks on all devices (macOS and iOS?)

A lot of it is subjective I'm sure, however for me it's just a faster, lighter version of Chrome that also works on my work machines - so tab syncing and all that stuff. Everything just seems to work on it - something that I can't say of Safari <- I'm sure now people will tell me everything works on Safari. If that's your experience, good for you! Then carry on. Like I say, I'm sure a lot of it is subjective. A lot of my work stuff doesn't, nor does some of my Uni portal.

I get it on my two phones (an iPhone and a Note 20 Ultra) - it's just the same experience on all. Sync's with my Office365 account, although I imagine you can use a 'normal' Microsoft account.

I tried it out of curiosity really, and now it's ended up being my goto browser for pretty much everything.

Me neither.

But then I never see anybody's computer but my own. In my experience 100% of Macs use Safari for personal browsing and Firefox for work.
Yeah just like doing an inventory of everyones computer apps would be kinda creepy lol.
I use Edge 100% of the time.

Edge allowed me to ditch Chrome as my alternate browser. It's as good as Chrome, can use Chrome plugins, is Chrome compatible.

It's a less bloated Chrome that isn't spyware for Google. Edge is 100% open source, while Chrome is not.

There is no downside to use Edge over Chrome and vertical tabs are pretty sweet to have on widescreen monitors. Most websites waste the space to the sides anyway.

Why?
- Can Edge also synch all bookmarks on all devices (macOS and iOS?)
- Does it block ads as effectively (plug-in) and secure (native script analysis) as Safari?
- After deleting the application, does it leave as much data junk and support data as Chrome, for example?
- It it a MS$ gift without ulterior motives?
- Is it optimized for speed (new Apple CPU)?

These are the thoughts you have when you live under a rock ;-)
It literally does all these things. At least do some basic research before trying to bash something you clearly know nothing about.

I’d like it even more if they enabled right click on images and “Save to Photos” like Safari does.

Or maybe there’s an extension that does this for Chrome?

It is a good way to make room for all those ribbon-nested free shopping and news plugins.
Definitely, and I could always use more space for those

Sorry Nikialf. No comment for you!
I have listed a number of aspects in which Edge must prove itself. Sorry, I have not heard any presumable experiences from you up to now. You can do better!

I think they were just asking questions because they were not informed about edge not trying to bash it.

“Popular“??

Or installed on every windows 10 machine and used to download Chrome or Firefox....

I don’t think I’ve ever seen it on a MacOS Machine.
Now now, I support development teams that use macs, and most of the web dev teams have it installed so they can check their sites work on it, so there’s that.

As long as Microsoft does not put its browsers in Apple's App Store, the software cannot be checked for security in detail. At best, security certificates will then be negotiated with Apple...
Browsers in particular naturally have a wider interest in forming user profiles and belong to the "increased security risk" category for me and many users.
A specific traffic analysis is hardly feasible today. Therefore, you need blind trust in Microsoft or Google etc...

And this is certainly a decision that everyone (advised by his social environment or acquired knowledge) decides for himself.

Of course, there are more extensions for Chrome etc in some cases (e.g. to download Youtube videos in redirect-mode to avoid ad brakes), but at least I decided to stay safe and therefore uninstalled all other browsers (and painstakingly separated out all their data and extension junk that these browsers write to your drive incl. their 'system enhancements'.

Microsoft is known for the fact that their auto-update features can install almost anything on Apple computers. This is probably hardly different with Edge.

“vertical tabs should prove a welcome addition for users browsing on 16:9 ratio displays“
lol. In other words everyone. It isn’t 1999 any more. Virtually everyone is on 16:9 displays. That is all Apple makes too. That line gave me a good laugh.

Can I synch edge to a Google account? Or only Microsoft. Need to synch to access a bunch of plugins on a G account. Would love to use edge instead.
