We can’t "thank Apple 100% for that" as you put it. My point was you were giving Apple way too much credit/blame.
Ok, KDE, that better? I removed “Apple” and replaced it with “KDE”. :) The browser that, this universe exists currently and is called “chrome” owes it’s existence to KDE. In other universes that we don’t have direct access to, they might have even built it from the renderer that version of me designed for their winning entry in the 2003 “Build a Better Browser” contest. In THIS universe, though, it was KDE.

The Android OS and phones that exist IN THIS UNIVERSE exists as an iteration of the first iPhone design. It’s not even a controversial statement at this point as there are designs Google was shopping around to carriers before and after the iPhone was introduced. And, those being shown AFTER the iPhone looked and were expected to work far more like the iPhone (initially, Android wasn’t even going for a touch screen, instead opting for menu keys).

WebKit itself is a fork of KHTML and KJS (both the products of KDE).

Yes, if you remove Apple from the history of Chromium, WebKit, Blink, etc. things would be different. But that is true of lots of companies.
Yup! I think if I said KDE instead of Apple it’s just as accurate but maybe more acceptable to those that just can’t give Apple credit for anything :)

A number of factors led to the success of Chrome (#1 browser) and Android (#1 mobile OS). None of it was close to "100%" thanks to Apple or "100%" thanks to any other company. You're looking to give just too much credit (or blame) to one thing.

Well, if the last 5-6 years has taught us anything, it's that people are pretty stupid and unaware of how they are being scammed. ?‍♂️
Not just the last 5-6 years: "No one in this world, so far as I know ... has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people." - H. L. Mencken (1880–1956)

Often reworked into 'nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people'

A browser installed on 75% of desktops overtakes the browser pre installed on 15% of desktops, 30% of all mobile phones, and 38% of all tablets
All numbers both I and Macrumors quoted are desktop only. Mobile is a whole different thing.
