So are Apple executives going to start saying. "I am going to launch Edge, my browser of choice" during the keynotes?
How would you know? It's based on Chromium and for a completely different platform. My guess is that it has nothing in common with the current Windows version except for the name. This could also be what the future Windows version will be like to according to the rumour from yesterdayIt's a very good browser. Hopefully people who think their snarky comments are clever and appreciated will have actually used it and judged it on the merits first.
edit: too late lol.
I loved Firefox when I used Windows, but the current versions on MacOS is pretty terrible and I wouldn't recommend itUse Firefox. Support Mozilla's free and open source development. Firefox is ultra fast now (thanks to Project Quantum), secure, and not a Google botnet. If you haven't tried Firefox in a few years, I would suggest giving it a go again.
I wouldn't bother anyway, but wasn't there just talk of M$ ditching Edge..?

Really? Two days ago they announced they are discontinuing it. Hand-me-downs?

Beause people don’t want their entire browsing history sent to google regardless of your privacy settings. What's the point? Just use Chrome then, or any of the other Chromium based browsers like Brave, Epic, or even Opera which are available now. I cannot imagine any worthwhile differentiator that MS will bring in this instance.

Microsoft today announced that it expects to bring its Edge web browser to the Mac, possibly as early as next year.

"Microsoft Edge will now be delivered and updated for all supported versions of Windows and on a more frequent cadence. We also expect this work to enable us to bring Microsoft Edge to other platforms like macOS," said Microsoft.
The news was revealed as part of Microsoft's larger announcement that Edge will be rebuilt based on the open source Chromium rendering engine, with the first preview build expected to be available in 2019. It's unclear if the preview will initially be limited to Windows or extend to the Mac simultaneously.
Edge succeeded Internet Explorer as Microsoft's default web browser on Windows in 2015, with a mobile version later released for iOS and Android. It will be Microsoft's first web browser on Mac since Internet Explorer for Mac received its last feature update over 15 years ago, in June 2003.
More details to follow...

Why are they doing this?
Many PC users prefer Chrome, so fiercely loyal Mac users are even less likely to use the browser of their ‘enemy.’

The Edge browser they are talking about bringing to the mac is a rewrite of Edge based on Chromium. They aren't scrapping edge, just the engine it currently runs on.I wouldn't bother anyway, but wasn't there just talk of M$ ditching Edge..?

I’ve actually seen Chrome bring networks to a grinding halt because of the Chrome server running hidden in the background conflicting with services on company servers as they fight for shared resources. It’s funny that Microsoft is switching to it. It’s likelu because Chrome has been downloaded on machines and actively blocking other browsers which is a problem I had at a hospital I worked at which required Explorer for many functions, but employees kept downloading chrome and they were no longer able to block it because of changes Google made that would force them to block most user internet functions to be able to block the download.Ah, Internet Explorer for Mac... brings back memories of crashing the network at my work experience placement in the early '00s trying to get online with mac OS 9!
Why?
