Well, depends. iOS doesn't help. iOS doesn't allow real multi-tasking: I cannot use two apps side-by-side. iOS doesn't allow add-ons to the apps. iOS doesn't allow me to use a mouse (the finger is not precise as a mouse pointer, and that makes a difference). There are a lot of things iOS doesn't let me do.

Software plays a big part. Windows apps are usually more powerful and fully-featured than apps designed for iOS, in addition to the limitations of iOS.

If you need simple stuff, or have some specific needs, then an iPad app may solve your problem and be all you need. But if you really need the flexibility to do it all, then you need a real computer and the iPad will not be enough.
Well I was more talking about enterprise. but if you want to go on personal use I can tell you from my experience that the way that I multitask is by using an iPad and iPhone. To me it feels more natural to toggle between devices. I don't need one device to do it all, but it would be nice and eventually that will be the case.

Definitely.

But Microsoft's point is that you don't need both a tablet and a laptop. According to Microsoft, you would only need one device.

That is Microsoft's argument, true. As has been done to death over and over, it's a bit like saying that you don't need a toaster and a fridge if you can get a toast-making fridge. It's just a bizarre way of thinking about things. What's next? We don't need a smartphone and a laptop/tablet when we can have a smartphonelaptoptablet? Convergence for the sake of convergence is silly. If you want the best tool for the job, you need the best tool for the job. Nobody takes a Swiss Army Knife to a sword fight.

No, iOS is always weaker than full Windows.

The 11" one is 2.38lbs, which is .14lbs heavier than the Surface Pro 3 with the second gen type cover.
I'm not sure how a computer can be weaker than another? But everyone's entitled to their opinion.

>Real multitasking
>Mouse support
>Thousands of programs, not restricted by andboxing
>A real file system
>Intel i3-i7 with more powerful graphics
>More RAM

I could keep going as to what makes a Surface Pro with Windows more powerful than an iPad. It isn't an opinion, the iPad isn't in the same field really.

I thought they were OUT OF BUSINESS in TABLETS world.
In the next 3 to 6 years there will be 3 billion more people going online for the first time.
Even if your product is not as successful as your competition you can still make boatloads of money.

The surface may be a powerful piece of hardware but it's like a muscle car trying to get traction in the rain. On the other hand iOS is like an all-wheel-drive GTR#

Windows is a more powerful OS than iOS as well. I could go over all of the things that iOS doesn't have that makes it an inferior offering, because it was designed primarily for phones that have no need for such things.

we need a dual boot iPad Pro that lets you boot into iOS or OSX, quickly or even 5 finger pinch between them.

I can go on forever and talk about how industries of finding less and less use for windows.

what is UX?:confused::eek: User experience?

Well that depends on the OS and on the hardware.

My user experience of my iPad is seriously hampered by the lack of a stylus and the lack of a USB port and file system.

That's because an iPad is NOT a laptop replacement and you're trying to use it as such. As Steve Jobs said in his iPad keynote, its a third device, a device in addition to a laptop and smartphone.

A tablet/laptop replacement is a mythical device that doesn't exist because there are compromises. The S3 is closer but it's still heavy, battery life is worse, has a fan, crappy keyboard and an OS with an identity crises.

I think its up to Intel to cut the TDP of their processors significantly for tablet/laptops to be successful.

front row at the event hahaha

This reminds me of a Bill Gates tweet from July 2013, touting [his] "incredible team" ⎯ with all MacBook Pros lol.

The Surface 3 *looks* nice, but I have no use for Windows or Microsoft anything.

I could go on and on for why industry cannot change to ios/osx. I've worked at number of fortune 500 companies including big 4 accounting firms and I cannot see them changing to any other OSes for productivity, not to mention the backbone. If your definition of industry is small mom and pop stores, maybe..

Then shame on you you had no business buying an iPad in the first place. If you knew you needed a stylus then why would you buy a device without one? But there are workarounds for all three.

MBP is an awesome laptop. Once Apple went Intel and unibody I couldn't ditch my windows laptop fast enough.

Name some

And no my definition of industry is not small and mom-and-pop stores. That would be point of sale and Apple has that covered. I'm talking about real work critical systems, BMS systems, life safety systems.
