Why does Microsoft keep thinking people want a keyboard and USB connectivity on their tablets. If I wanted to connect my USB and have a full keyboard, I'd use a laptop, not a tablet.

Haha, this is just free advertising for Apple. Microsoft... Just a shaddow of its former self. Gotta love that Steve Balmer though.

Don't know why they would go to all the trouble with the comparison and not compare the price with the same 32gb version, to make the iPad look even worse! One of the downsides of Apple is definitely the price increases for doubling memory, all about profit rather than component cost.

Apple definitely charges too much for storage, but what MS doesn't tell you is the OS takes up a ridiculous amount of space--half of the 32 is usable.

This is their "I'm a Mac" series. I see no real difference here. The problem is that the surface rt < iPad, in more ways than just price.

I think this is the first Surface vs. iPad that is actually tasteful. We can dispute the relevance of the comparisons and obvious unmentioned iPad advantages, plus the fact that the Surface keyboard is sold separately just like any iPad keyboard (albeit 3rd party), but at least it's doing so in a fair, polite and relaively truthful way, for a change.

Actually to be honest I liked it how in a way they did do a relatively far comparison, showing that the Surface is indeed heavier than the iPad. Either way the Surface for the price actually seems rather reasonable and enticing.

Yes, the price is very enticing but I remember that I bought the Zune Mp3 player which Microsoft dumped and did not support.

I've considered quitting my job at office max because all they sell is windows 8. I'll never buy one of these in a million years.

top to microsoft: try a buy one take one free campaign

you look like a dinosaur trying to compete with youth. and rolling balmer out doesn't help your cause. just everyone elses. lol.

Microsoft making these ads that compare its products to the iPad simply cement the iPad's place in people's minds as "the thing other companies have to beat", i.e. the market leader.

Notice how none of Apple's recent ads ever mention a competitor: instead, they focus on the features of their product.

stupid..pathetic..desperate. many flaws. "integrated stand and keyboard" "keyboard sold separately" WELL in THAT case, the iPad has an integrated stand too which is sold separately. Mutliple things at once? Oh please, ¼ and ¾ screen apps are pointless. ¼ screen of IE = text too small and apps such as desktop are pointless and 'store' doesn't even load! just sits with an icon with green background! il rather have 100% screen one thing than ¾ one thing. Oh RT, is that a pixel i see? oh it is? thats alright.. it's not as thought you have many apps to run. storage wise? I quote microsoft "The 32 GB version has approximately 15 GB free hard disk space." (http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-gb/support/storage-files-and-folders/surface-disk-space-faq)

The Surface RT? You have got to be kidding me.

I stopped by best Buy once and played with the Surface RT for a few minutes and it wasn't long before I thought, "This is the biggest piece of crap that I have ever seen MS peddle in my life."

But then I tried the Surface Pro and OMG what a difference. The keyboard, the responsiveness, everything about it was so much better. Night and day difference. The RT by comparison was a nearly dysfunctional, unusable tablet.

One of the worst things Microsoft could have ever done was create the RT version of the Surface, and more bafflingly, releasing it before the Pro. Had the Pro been the only Surface model released, the reaction to it would have been far better (even at its higher price markup.)

The multitasking is the biggest pull for me, but I have a suspicion that once Apple unifies their OS, multitasking will be possible on the iPad as well, or maybe sooner in a limited way (such as granting Facetime its own window).

Anyone notice anything fishy about the "integrated keyboard" that was not part of the weight or thickness measurements and was also off screen and not exactly integrated with anything?

"Highlights iPads shortcomings". What did Paul Thurrot write this article? Sorry these aren't shortcomings to me.
