Well, this app has been out for a while. Microsoft just bought the company and put their name on it. I don't believe they made any changes after they rebranded it.

Regardless of what you want to believe, as it currently stands the App Store has this as "MICROSOFT OUTLOOK" and it states that it is version "1.0.0" and as such, as a version 1 app, it is - as I stated - working quite well for me so far.
I could care less if it it was developed by another company that was bought out by Microsoft. The fact remains that it is now owned by Microsoft and if they choose to re-sell the product as Outlook that is their right to do so. Since I never heard of the other company or App that people are claiming this app to be in a former life, this app is for all practical purposes Microsoft Outlook.
I know right? Microsoft is the only company to acquire a smaller company and integrate into their portfolio of products.Seriously, what are you actually complaining about? This happens all the time.
Whether or not they made changes to the app is a matter of speculation. Unless you know something we don't.
I wonder if this will suck as bad as Outlook on every other platform (including Windows)?
There are so many email apps out there. I just wish Apple would let me change the email app default in iOS. Until then, it makes it more difficult to use any email app due to lack of integration. its not like apple loses money if they give us the option. Actually could make money if they sell the rights to become the default app like they do with the search engine in safari.
Outlook doesn't suck. Most businesses love Outlook. Consumers with light requirements hate it mostly because of its complex nature.
Anyone with power user requirements loves Outlook...
No support for just adding an account via IMAP?!? Are you kidding me?

No support for Exchange Server 2003.
So far, this is performing REALLY well for a v1 app. Even if it is Accompli, it's working nicely with my jobs o365 Exchange instance. One key thing missing is free\busy look-up when scheduling a meeting. Either it's not there yet or I can't find how to do it. Their OWA for iPhone app does it but that's due to it being a wrapper for OWA 2013. This option is a HUGE requirement in the enterprise and the #1 request I get from my users. Here's hoping it's coming soon.

You're missing the point. Microsoft is taking credit for the hard work and creativity of another company. They failed to create an equal solution in-house so they sought to BUY a pre-made solution.
And since they have failed to create simple, elegant solutions in-house, how will this new Outlook evolve over time? I bet they will mess it up and make it more complicated and less user-friendly as each new version comes out.

I tried the Outlook for iOS App with my Exchange Office 365 account and I am not impressed. There are still things missing that should be expected from Microsoft.
- Cannot set OOF
- No support for Exchange categories
- cannot access public folders
- cannot set the amount of data to store offline
- cannot access contacts folder on Exchange mailbox
- Cannot move an appointment to a different calendar
- no support for Exchange tasks
- no month view in calendar
- no week view in calendar
The app has potential but cannot replace the standard mail.app for me. At least not yet.
The only thing I really like is the integration with DropBox, OneDrive and the ability to access attachments from other mails.
