You're missing the point. Microsoft is taking credit for the hard work and creativity of another company. They failed to create an equal solution in-house so they sought to BUY a pre-made solution.

No, you're missing the point.

That's how business works.

You do realize all companies do this, right? Amongst other things - Apple bought the companies that made OSX and iOS and iTunes and Siri and FileMaker and iWork and iAd and Maps and TouchID and iBooks and FinalCut and GarageBand and their hardware mobile processors (SOC). None of those were made by Apple - Apple bought the companies and then "took credit".

Microsoft is not "taking credit for the hard work and creativity of another company". That other company doesn't exist anymore - it *is* Microsoft.

If the small companies don't want someone to take credit for their innovation - they shouldn't sell their company.

Is anyone getting a username/password error when trying to add an iCloud email account? I got the password right...but I do have multiple emails - a me.com an iCloud.com and a gmail.com linked to the same Apple ID
Am I doing something wrong?

Outlook on iOS and Android is not MDM friendly

After downloading the apps to both my phone and my iPad, I had a lot of problems adding my exchange account to them, regardless I was at home or on the VPN or on the corporate network... I wasn't able to connect at all...

Then I googled and found this:
https://support.office.com/en-us/learn/outlook-for-ios-and-android-faq

In the search field enter: MDM

Can I connect with an MDM profile?

At this time if your email server requires a MDM profile on the device, our app will not be able to connect.

We are working with the leading MDM providers to enable support for MDM in a future release.

So its back to Mail.app on iOS.

Same here.

No support for Exchange Server 2003.
My first reaction to this was, "It's 2015."

My more sensible and less belittling response to this is that Outlook for Mac 2011 (again, it's 2015! Hey Microsoft!) required Exchange 2010, and I thought that was a bit of a gift to Microsoft. I'm still trying to figure out why the core of Exchange, which is e-mail and it's interface to the world as OWA has been around since forever, so why aren't core services, like e-mail, tasks, contacts, and calendars *not* included with every client, and the additional features of Exchange 2007, 2010, 2013, whatever is next added as a cherry on the top?

In short, it looks like an edict like: "YOU MUST UPGRADE to be able to read your e-mail" Please make the $1500 check payable to your local partner. Oh yeah, you have to upgrade your server too, so make out another $3000 check to your local partner, along with $4000 Dell, IBM, or HP. Your small business can afford $8500, until next time, right? It is, after all, so you can get your e-mail on your iphone.

Are you sure? The Accompli app didn't when we checked it out. If it's client based, how does it implement things like rescheduling emails? Any documentation?
Following up on my own post. ;) Looking at the FAQ:

This was updated on Jan 28, so it's apparently current. Here, we find some information about how your information is handled. Two quotes:

We provide a service that indexes and accelerates delivery of your email to your device. That means that our service retrieves your incoming and outgoing email messages and securely pushes them to the app on your device. Similarly, the service retrieves the calendar data and address book contacts associated with your email account and securely pushes those to the app on your device. Those messages, calendar events, and contacts, along with their associated metadata, may be temporarily stored and indexed securely both in our servers and locally on the app on your device. If your emails have attachments and you request to open them in our app, the service retrieves them from the mail server, securely stores them temporarily on our servers, and delivers them to the app.
So all your mail and other information flows through their servers. This also implies that they will store your login credentials on their servers:
Some email accounts (ones that use Microsoft Exchange, for example) also require that you provide your email login credentials, including your username, password, server URL, and server domain.
If you want to use this app for your work email, I'd strongly recommend to make sure that your IT department is OK with this.

What error do you get? I'm getting 'Unable to login'

Is there any way to add a Comcast email address? Unless I am missing something, it doesn't look like you can.

My guess is that the limited type of accounts is due to the way the app works. If it indeed is that emails "pass-through" their servers, then their servers are probably configured to get mail from the current list only.

Thanks for the reply.

Anyone: When I swipe right to left on an email I wish to delete, I am only getting the green archive option. How do I swipe to get the delete?

I wonder if this will suck as bad as Outlook on every other platform (including Windows)?

The #1 email client in corporate world. You haven't seen IBM Lotus Notes, and Apple doesn't support anything for corporates in that area.

So yea, this is HUGE

Are there any third-party mail apps that DON'T do this? It seems like all of the Exchange-compatible options do this, which restricts me to the Mail.app option.

I sure wish there was a down-vote on this forum. I consider myself a power user, and I get by just great with Apple's apps for Mail, Calendar, and Contacts. I've only seen and felt pain in an Outlook-centric setup.

Their apps are solid for the most part, but lots of people seem to have issues between OS X mail.app and Exchange servers... me included; Outlook has already been good with Exchange - from my use anyways.

I started using Acompli about a month ago to get push on gmail (didnt want to use the app) and it quickly replaced my default mail.app. Just a few things with this new version that seem different for me.

- Archive/Delete. with acompli half swipe archives while full swipe deletes. With outlook i can only archive. Even though the screenshots in this article show the full swipe delete. I've gone into settings for swipe but don't see an option for full swipe gesture. Hoping this is an oversight. everyone having this issue?

Exactly that. Not a deal breaker, but probably the one thing I use the most. Most of my email are informational, either archive or delete or schedule. Not being able to set the swipe on this is the only thing I'm missing. Otherwise, very happy they are moving forward and not letting it die.

Been lots of praise from a mac guy to Microsoft lately.

Ya, missing, but coming back soon I hope

This is still pretty much useless for me until they update the desktop client to match these features! Nothing screws up my workflow like different desktop and mobile triage. :(

I just can't find a mobile & desktop app combo that support Exchange & Gmail while also supporting email triage. Am I missing something here? Neither Mailbox or Acompli/Outlook are helping with this.

??

is this app going to run in parallel or in competition with Acompli?

Apparently Acompli uses middle-man servers to cache your emails, monitor your mailboxes and push notifications to APNS, just that it uses Exchange ActiveSync to connect to your Exchange server.

You still need to have an Office 365 Business Premium subscription to make it work. From what I can see it doesn't give you a whole lot more than the standard Outlook.com email which is free. Unless you use Outlook at work I think there are better options for iOS users.

seriously, are you guys able to log in to your icloud email account??

I'm logged into mine now. Not had any problems with it and I use it every day.

It supports Outlook.com.

Opinion:
But frankly despite using Exchange Online I am not a fan of Acompli's (or now iOS Outlook's) calendar and contacts, as it is quite dumb and less powerful than Fantastical and syncing via EWS on OS X is not quite reliable (Exchange's problem tho). Neither am I an enthusiast of push e-mail, ugh. Background sync which pulls regularly is good enough for e-mails, and I feel nothing bad with my phone interrupting me less for every single e-mail but a batch at a time. Need instantaneity? Go and look for IMs, I would say. Moreover, I hate seeing big icons on a toolbar that I don't use permanently occupying the real estate.

Waiting for Dispatch for iPad.

I got it to work. Make sure if you have 2-factor authentication you generate an app-specific password.

Also, if your Apple ID is not a @icloud.com email, you need to add @icloud.com as the suffix for whatever your existing email is. (i.e., if my Gmail is Spaceboy88@gmail.com that I log into as my Apple ID, I need to use Spaceboy88@icloud.com in Outlook for it to work).

I can get my email to work, but none of my calendars show up in this app. Anyone else have this problem?
