- Archive/Delete. with acompli half swipe archives while full swipe deletes. With outlook i can only archive. Even though the screenshots in this article show the full swipe delete. I've gone into settings for swipe but don't see an option for full swipe gesture. Hoping this is an oversight. everyone having this issue?

Although not exactly what you are after, you can at least change the Swipe behavior in settings and change from Archive to Delete for right swipe.

Edit: looking at the screenshot, you are right, it clearly seems to allow full and half swipe

Fonts?!

It seems to default to Times New Roman when sending/receiving an email. On my computer outlook fonts are normal, but on the app it's that old antiquated stuff.

Even when sending it appears to send in a nice font, when in reality it shows up on my computer as Times. Uninstalled for now.

Would be nice if Microsoft supported different types of Exchange connections that they themselves created, like Exchange Web Services. Acompli never did, which is probably why that's the case with this app, while CloudMagic does, for example.

Yeah I noticed that too. The font sucks when in inbox. The acompli font was actually great and made the interface look very clean. One of the major reasons I picked it over othr more popular mail apps. With this font it doesn't have the same feel. I hope it's an oversight.

Finally I can get rid of that awful OWA app. Just wish they would drop the Office 365 requirement for the new Outlook on Mac.

What about syncing with Apple Contacts?

Am I missing something, or does this new app _not_ sync with Contacts? Nice that they got the Calendar to sync, though.

Yep gonna wait it out. Mail.app would only let me archive gmail but I loved that acompli gave me the option to delete or archive. Hope it something they missed and will get fixed.

The new Mac Outlook requires Office 365? Dangit. Does Microsoft just not care about standalone Exchange servers anymore?!

No, it just requires an Office 365 subscription to access the Outlook software. You can connect to any kind of on premises Exchange (version 2007 onwards..)

... Let's talk when you give us 'shared' company calendars... Right now in my workflow it's another client, and one more that I don't need.

I like the app, but...

I can't seem to add my iCloud email where I use my calendar and contacts. It just keeps timing out. I have two factor authentication on though and even tried the app specific password, but with no luck. Has anyone else gotten that to work?

I started using Acompli about a month ago to get push on gmail (didnt want to use the app) and it quickly replaced my default mail.app. Just a few things with this new version that seem different for me.

- Font: The font on acompli was way cleaner and nicer looking when using the app, and readable even in the multitasking screen when the app window was smaller. Not only is this new Outlook font not as clean within the app, but its tougher to read in the multitasking window (useful sometimes when switching between memopad and mail to write down something). overall the older font was just better in my opinion.

I have same issue with short swipe vs long swipe. Since I never archive I changed it to delete Iin settings.

I really like this new Outlook app. The only thing that makes it a non-starter for me is that it doesn't properly support Gmail aliases. I have yet to find any third-party app on iOS that does support Gmail aliases fully except for the actual Gmail app.

What I mean is that when I configured aliases in Gmail, I set them up to use custom (i.e. not Gmail's) SMTP servers. The primary reason I don't use Gmail's SMTP servers with my domain e-mail aliases, ironically enough, is because the Outlook desktop client will display the From field like this if I use Gmail's SMTP server:

abc@gmail.com On Behalf of <My Name>

Since most of my clients use Outlook on the desktop, I want to present a polished image of my organization and not show them my personal Gmail address in the From field.

I'm not sure why e-mail apps other than the Gmail app can't access my aliases and their SMTP settings when I give them permission to access my Gmail account.

All the third-party e-mail apps I've linked to Gmail (Sparrow, Mailbox, Outlook, etc.) make you add your aliases to the app manually and then after you do that, it doesn't check to see what your custom SMTP settings might be for the alias -- it just sends all the mail using Gmail's SMTP server and gives you no ability to modify that behavior.

The Gmail app is the only one I've found that as soon as I gave it my credentials to login, all my aliases were automatically populated and when I sent an e-mail from one of my aliases using the app, it automatically respected the SMTP settings I have configured in Gmail on the web.

Wait what??! So with the new version of outlook I'll need to pay monthly/annual fee, instead of just purchasing the software straight up like we do now??

This is fantastic for Exchange. Definitely switching my work email to this.
Be sure to ask your IT department first. Outlook/Accompli inserts itself between the user and the enterprise mail server, i.e. their cloud service fetches the mail from your work Exchange server to store and process it, meaning all your work email and your login credentials will be exposed to Microsoft. Many enterprises have policies in place prohibiting this kind of thing.

Anyone else able to connect iCloud email to this? Mine will jot work. I have 2-factor setup and generated a password.

Yes. Software as a service

I don't see it as a bad thing. Actually I prefer this licensing model. For 99€/year you get up to five Office installations, unlimited OneDrive and the ability to share your licenses with your family and friends.

Outlook for iOS uses the Exchange Active Sync protocol and connects directly to the Exchange Server.

Are you sure? The Accompli app didn't when we checked it out. If it's client based, how does it implement things like rescheduling emails? Any documentation?

Looks nice but.....

1. I am having trouble setting up my gmail account. Everything looks good and I can setup gmail in other apps without a problem.

2. I get my mail through icloud but send through gmail so I can use a email alias. I can do this through the default mail app but outlook does not allow this.

3. I like the thought of my calendar being in the same app as email.

You can still buy Outlook as a stand alone product.
