In case you're interested in the decision-making process about A/V in Messenger:Mac, there's a post to Mac Mojo, the Macintosh Business Unit team blog, that discusses this. It's Messenger: haves and hA/Ve nots.

Hey,

thanks for linking to this.

Could I just ask you when you'll get norwegian language packs? I mean, you even have the swedish ones. I'll translate it for you if you want.

I'm sorry, but I can't answer questions about future features (which includes translated languages) right now. :( We're not talking specifics about it yet, but when we do, you'll see lots of posts at Mac Mojo.

Regards,
Nadyne.

It's good that you care. Your position is between a rock and a hard place.

In my case, I'd rather see MS Office become a better product and let Messenger languish. More people depend on Office for their work than they depend on Messenger for anything. I'm surprised that the company is still investing in Messenger. I'd have thought that, with dropping WMP for Mac, that they'd invest in the Messenger from Yahoo! instead.

i was having trouble sending files to contacts on Adium, so i thought it would be better on MSN 6. I downloaded it, and a contact added me, so i put him on my contact list, which froze MSN. Adium was version 0.89.1, MSN was version 6.

I think i'll stick with Adium for the time being. The final release is going to be awesome!

One thing to remember is that Microsoft isn't one big monolith. Almost all of Microsoft's Mac products come out of the MacBU, but not all of them. Windows Media Player for Mac was from the Windows Media Player team, which is entirely outside of MacBU. It was their decision to stop working on WMP for Mac. Their decision didn't have anything to do with MacBU and the products that we make.

We're not really the Borg. ;)

You could put the contact information in your signature. It's available through the link toward the top labeled "User CP". :)

Considering how I've felt about Microsoft since using the Altair 8800 to run BASIC way back when up until today, I would never confuse Microsoft with the Borg.

Yeah, I know, it's just an odd habit of mine. I've been avoiding it for no particular reason, since I seem to recall that I can specify whether I want my sig to show up or not. (I want it to show up when I'm posting in threads about Microsoft, because I think that it's only honest to say that I'm a Microsoft employee when I'm saying something about the products that I work on. But if I'm posting in a music thread, there's no reason to say that I'm with Microsoft.)

(skipping the sig this time)
