Unnecessary sarcasm. Also, you basically just told me they don't really have a pattern. 3 years than 4 years.
It's not sarcasm, it's facts. The pattern is precisely that -- 3 to 4 years. It's the same for PC (2000 - 2003 - 2007 - 2010).

They have a 36-month cycle, the reason it ended up taking 4 years the last time was that the 2008 version was delayed. It was slated to be Office:mac 2007. So the next one will be 2011 if all goes according to plan and 2012 if not. But it will NOT be 2009, that's for sure.

I <3 Pages

I find this halarious because a month or 2 ago I would have been extatic. "Unfortunatly" I just discovered some new stuff about pages that just makes me like it more. So now I only use Pages and have forgotten about word  Long live :apple:

OK, LaTeX looks daunting, but I'll give LyX a go. Many thanks!

I give you this, Latex has quite a learning curve

However with this dissertation project of yours this learning time is well spend because other than with a GUI-Tool you can separate most of the formatting requirements from the actual writing process. This can be immensely helpful if you need to finish on time - because you know what it will look like all along and you can focus on writing until the last day.

You still need to install Latex through. I would recommend getting BasicTeX-2008 from here http://www.tug.org/mactex/morepackages.html
If you have enough disk space you could also download the whole package, however it is 1,2 Gig...

You should also at least get Bibdesk http://bibdesk.sourceforge.net/

PM me, if you have further questions...

Native Exchange Support!

When? When? When?

The latest Exchange Server doesn't work natively with the latest client for it. It is and remains embarrassing. I know there are the IIS & ECS setting workarounds, which only works after applying them freshly. But why would one need them at all?

Odd. On the east coast and not seeing anything...

There is. You need to click that link in that post and it will be on the right side. Not in AutoUodate or anywhere else other than that link. Bad syncing Microsoft

You appear to be downloading this:

Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 1.1

Because I see no reference to SP2 on the webpage.
I've seen it and downloaded it. It's 297MB. It only seems to appear on the newest list on the side and then only every second refresh.

This update contains several improvements to enhance stability and performance. It introduces a new application called the Microsoft Document Connection, to work with files that are located on a SharePoint site or Microsoft Office Live Workspace. This update also includes new features, such as path animations and animated .GIFs, in Microsoft PowerPoint 2008 for Mac. Also, this update is the minimum Office for Mac requirement for installing Microsoft Entourage 2008 for Mac, Web Services Edition. For detailed information about this update, please visit the Microsoft Web site.

OK I see it. It's on the right side of the site under Newest. I think this is the first time I am waiting desperately for a Microsoft update lol.
