Did you do ALL the updates? i had to install about 8 it seemed.

Actually, for me there is a huge difference, I quit using Excel, before it was so horrible looking. Now it is razor sharp.

I downloaded the last update from the website link someone in this thread provided earlier. And then went into Word and did several other updates. The "retina" update isn't on the Auto Updater it seems yet, you have to manually download it.

That weird if its not working for others, because mine went from unbearable crap to razor sharp with the last update.

I love this contradiction.

That's because a bunch of blogs spread around a bad headline. What Microsoft actually said when originally asked about retina support was that they could not comment on future updates at that time.

People that don't need Office all the time should just sign up for Outlook.com email address. They have Word/Excel/Powerpoint built into SkyDrive tab once you login to check your email. It is a realistic alternative for those who don't use Office that often/sparingly.

Wow that's a crappy job! All the pills/borders around the toolbar buttons are pixelated, drop down arrow on the zoom button and the entire ruler are pixelated! Not to mention the horrible drop down shadow on the section titles...

Shameful :S

bizarre. manually updated using that link and no change whatsoever. still blurry crap. maybe i'll try rebooting.

running 10.8.2 as well.

I installed the new update on 10.8.2. Could that be a reason why they update didn't work for some and worked for others? (Didn't work for me.)

I just downloaded and installed the update (yes it's the right update) and it looks just as bad as ever. I'm going to restart and see if that helps anything.

No change for me either. Verified that it is 14.2.4 that is on there. Just as ugly as it was before the install. Reboot and reinstall didn't help.

Count me in with the ones that see no change. Time to turn Retinizer back on for me. Stinking M$.

UPDATE: Now Retinizer won't work on it because it says the app is Retina ready. I guess I'll reinstall office when I have some time this weekend. Until then I'll have to live with it looking awful again. Suck.

It is impressive that lots of Mac users here write bad things about Microsoft and then they can't even update the software by themselves, like... they click automatic and they think it's done. Then they complain it doesn't work.

IDIOTS

You're the problem.

I downloaded manually from Microsoft as well. Might be worth checking the applications, if you 'get info', check that the "Open in low resolution" box isn't checked - it was checked and greyed out previously.

Hmm, it does seem to be checked. How did you uncheck the box? It's greyed out for me and I can't uncheck it.

It's a million times better than what it was before, i.e. unusable!
