Microsoft Opens First New Retail Store in Scottsdale, Arizona

For the same reason you did not hear Apple talk about it's "Magic Mouse" before the rumors. Make sense?

Um no, not really. I don't recall Apple talking about its mouse after the rumors either. See, Apple actually had a product ready to ship. They develop their stuff in secret, then they ship (iPhone being a rare exception - FCC leaks and all). Microsoft, they like to float their stuff years in advance. Sew the seeds of FUD, you know, just in case you're thinking about buying something from a competitor.

The recent mouse and tablet leaks were MS FUD at its finest.

ROFL. This is utterly hilarious. If we ever needed more confirmation that Microsoft rips off Apple, we have it now.

Some people here would like us to believe this is not the case, I mean how blind could you be.

What the heck are you talking about, Apple just released their mouse. Where is the multi touch mouse that Apple copied from Microsoft, where is it, is it being sold in stores?m

I'm talking about the concept. Just because they got it our first, does not mean they invented it. I bet next year you will be thinking, Apple invents new type of LCD(AMOLED) for the iPhone.

It wouldn't be that bad if..

The shirts reminded me of the apple store. I wonder if they'll have different roles for the shirts too like the apple store. Did you see that white poster that read "Infinite Possibilities?" I totally thought they just stole that from another store and hung it up 5 minutes before.

I do like all the nice monitors that appear on the walls, bet that was a pain to set up.

Too bad they didn't take my idea of the "Apology Place" instead of Answer Bar, or maybe even "Sympathy Center". I kinda like that one.

Well said, why wouldn't they do it when you have some people saying Apple ripped them off even though Apple actually has a shipping product!

So now it's Apple stole the concept of a multi touch mouse from Microsoft, yeah right buddy!

Yah I probably shouldn't be laughing so loud in the public library like I am. Well.. ahahha
What is next, Price Matching? Coupon day? Buy one get one free? I really wanna see what Gates comes up with in that noggin. Have your family picture taken in our store! Microsoft Pony Rides 1.0?

Is this the shopping mall at camelback road?

Anyway, I'm having a great time reading all those frustrated reactions! Keep -em coming, boys! :D

I tell you -- I was skimming the page and really didn't read the MICROSOFT part of the article title... I literally thought Apple had opened up the store and just hit PLAY on the youtube video without looking... Honestly thought it was an Apple Store opening until the big giant monitor showed up in the video and the huge Microsoft logo made me pause for a WTF moment.

Also, I was confused with all the colored t-shirts and thought Apple had changed stuff up for the holidays or something -- yes -- MS definitely copied Apple on this one, no doubt about.

The only issue i see is its a Microsoft store why do they have computer's there? they should only have boxes of there software they do not make the hardware so they have got there store all wrong. if i wanted a computer i would go to my local computer store -.-

Py's for 20 Cents

Pie Experts available on demand to explain your fillings and pastries!

it looks kinda like... ahhh i won't go there :)

haha I know, right? Aside from the cheering I bet EVERYONE there is thinking..."wooooo, what a rip off of the Apple store and YEARS too late." I mean holy cow...their staff looks like apple's, the store look's like apple's, hell I even thought that white poster near the window was one of Apple's App Store posters!

Oh, didn't you get the fanboy message here? Apple is apparently the end all and the be all. Nothing worthy was built before Apple and nothing worthy will be built after Apple unless it's by Apple.

Well at least you know the truth. Gzzz and here I was thinking you were just being a prick or something. Man I am so glad you understand what all this means.

I think competition is a Good Thing.

But Microsoft didn't even try to be original here. It's practically a rubber stamp of an Apple Store. In a way, I feel sorry for them. It's really sad...

Oh my god, they wear shirts, the nerve of them!

Walk into just about any store and they'll be wearing different shirts. Best Buy for example, Geek Squad is usually in black shirts, regular employees are in blue polos, managers are a bit nicer in button down shirts. When I worked at McDonalds in high school there were even different shirts depending on your position

For the THIRD time..Microsoft sells computers there.

How friggin hard is that to understand.

I'm not too sure if you actually got the gist of what he meant.

I look forward to future posts about experiences from the Microsoft store. Answer bar stories, Blue Screen sightings, sales encounters, Mac hating discussions in the store, customer types, crowd levels, etc.

Ahhh good for them. I suppose I can't be such a hater. They need to give their stock some oomph. It's not like they have a 200$ a share stock or anything. I always root for underdogs! Good going boys!
