No, I'm talking about four year old Intel Macs that won't run SL.

The PowerPC to Intel transition was achooley handled very well by Apple.

I feel sorry for the PPC people. SL is just a fine tuned Leo. Apple should have dropped PPC on 10.7 and given them this last good update. How much more work would it have been. Really.

Ugh, the way Microsoft just copies Apple is so obnoxious.

I think if they made a store with sections designed to highlight those things about the PC where they have an advantage, instead of just ripping off Apple's Modern design aesthetic, it would be much better. Like, they could have a sci-fi looking part of the store that showcased the latest high-end gaming PCs and game software. And a part of the store with the best TVs and sound systems that showed off home-theater PCs with blu-ray drives and whatnot. Neither of these sections would compete with big box retailers, who don't do this kind of thing. They could have an 1800s-styled section featuring steampunk laptops or pcs, or one that shows off the high-priced ultralight laptops from Japan that only specialized retailers bring into this country's market. And then instead of just aping Apple's genius bars, they could have a desk with people who would act as consultants for people who are trying to build their own PCs from components. Now that's a store I would actually be interested in checking out.

Forget the store. It's about the OS and Apps. Too little too late. They look like a bunch of Mini Balmers without the sweat stains. :apple:

Windows 7 is much more stable than Snow Leopard and has more software available. Looks like it is Apple doing the too little, too late thing.

come on - dropping PPC support is what gives snow leopard the smaller file size and speed bump.

Is this a personnel opinion or is this fact on how much more stable Win7 is then OS 10.6? If it is fact please post these factual results for all to see. If this is just an opinion, well then it has been stated before.... in fact it has been stated in this thread.

That is why they are scrambling to get out updates. 10.6.2 is just days away. On the other hand MS gave out thousands of Windows 7 RC to the general public, thus having thousands of people testing it and giving feedback. This is the second time MS does this. Smart move.

This just in:

"Linus Torvalds hears of Microsoft's innovative ideas, and has broadcast a GnuNote speech of the Tux Store conceptual idea"...

After six months, the first Linux store was opened by Mr. Richard Stallman...

Yeah for Intel users. So is that really a valid excuse to leave your loyal customers high and dry? Could PPC not utilize the improvements in SL? Could Apple have not just made a PPC version? Just to show loyalty to the very fanboys that would die for them?

Windows 7 is more stable than Snow Leopard, say who you? You never have anything positive to say about Apple so why should anyone listen to you.

They did the same with Vista, we know how well that turned out.

It's the open and save file dialog problem that Adobe noted in Snow Leopard. It happens about 40-50% of the time in FireFox. You'll go to select your file and the application will just beachball and go to 100%.

Really ? Mine doesn't crash at all. Just saves.

Apple likes to break my workflow each time. They broke it in Leopard and they're breaking it even more in Snow Leopard.

If I'm unable to migrate over my Spotlight comments to a new Snow Leopard Mac then I might as well never buy one again. I'm serious Apple switched me over with Spotlight and they're going to lose me with it as well.

BooHoo

eerily like an Apple Store.

no biggie though...did look like they just invited all teh workers inside with their bright shirts.

hey, i heard that bright colors get the attention....make our staff wear bright colored shirts.

....but I feel sorry for anyone who has to work at the Genius Bar of a Microsoft Store......

Why? Easiest job in the world!

"Sorry, not our fault - call HP. Next!"

"Sorry, not our fault - call Dell. Next!"

"Sorry, not our fault - you should have run anti-virus software. Next!"

"Sorry, not our fault - user error. Next!"

Time for another lawsuit...

Time for another "Look and Feel" lawsuit, Apple. LOL. That's just great work, Ballmer -- create a competing retail environment that will remind people of the Apple Store. :p

<<Insert my usual rant about how the MS-Board of Directors and shareholders need to oust Baller immediately>>

Do you like becoming less productive with each passing version of OS X?

Do you want to lose 4 years of work?

Wow, lose 4 years of work, less productive. Dont' think so. Ever hear of backups. I can usually find a workaround for any shortcomings in Apples new releases. I find Snow Leopard to be very innovative. UNIX Rules, Windows drools. Sorry just a little ad-lib.
