<<Insert my usual rant about how the MS-Board of Directors and shareholders need to oust Baller immediately>>

Dude, don't be such a killjoy - Ballmer is comedy gold! And every time he opens his meat hole, my AAPL jumps a couple of points.

I vote BALLMER FOR LIFE!

That's a video of a recent opening of an Apple store in England. They have copied it down to every last bit, even the advert in the window looks like the million apps advert for the iphone.

So where is the huge line to get in the Microsoft store? Plus most of the people in that store video were paid employees clapping or waiting for high-fives from people that weren't giving them any. It kind-of looks really pathetic!

An original, innovative observation. Epic thanks !

In contrast to people with four year old Macs that can't run SL. Why yes it is something to brag about. Next.

WOW. A blatant copy of 300 previous posts. :D

Ok, we get it. You're on a Mac Forum though, what do you expect? It's a rip-off, plain and simple. Doesn't mean that Microsoft doesn't make good products, just reflects their unoriginal business practices. Next.

I can hardly think with the overbearring smell of the Apple kool-aid in here... it's ridiculous. MSFT opened a store, what's the big deal? "OMG, Apple had a store!" Obviously Microsoft is copying them... really? Do you people think about what you're saying?

Did you even see the store. It isn't the fact MS opened a store, it is the blatant fact they ripped from another store, let alone an apple store. They couldn't come up with an original idea on how the store should look and feel. Instead they copied almost to the "t" an apple store. So, yeah that kind of gets to people.

Something tells me you're thinking of the following things:

People dressed in t-shirts that are bright colored - look at Star Trek (they wore shirts of different color denoting job) or Home Depot or Walmart or anything like that, they all wear shirts denoting job and rank.

Computers spaced throughout the store to test - you've obviously never been to a MicroCenter or similar computer store, in which the layout is practically the same, and has been since long before the Apple Store even existed.

Bags and computer accessories in the store - again, MicroCenter or even Best Buy has this same sort of setup, and has for quite a while.

The "answer desk" thing - I know, this seems like a rip off of the Genius Bar. However, if you look at the format of the Geek Squad (ones where I live have stools around an elevated area, with people working there behind the desk) then you'll realize this has also existed long before Apple came up with the idea.

Wood tables/floors and glass - go into Abercrombie, American Eagle, IKEA or a Crate & Barrel, that should give you a good idea that this design is not uncommon.

What's "copied" from the Apple store? I just don't get it...

You are not being honest with yourself. They hired the guy who was the original designer of the Apple stores. Of course Apple didn't originate the idea of a designer store. But Apple was the first to use it for computers. The idea that you can't see the mimicking of Genius Bar with Guru Bar is hilarious. Yes there were actual on-site people to help you with your problems before Apple but it is way too similar. The employees are cheering customers into the store. Who does that remind you of?

It is like saying there were touchscreens before the iPhone so all these hardware makers aren't really copying it. C'mon man. Be real. Microsoft has had a real problem with Apple envy for a very long time. Even Ballmer's statements about how the Internet is made for the PCs and not the iPhone proves. That comment from Ballmer came out of nowhere.

This has always been the problem with Microsoft. They work so hard to be loved that they're trying to Apple, Google, Sony, Spotify and anyone else who has been successful. The truth that Microsoft has to get past is that they won't ever love you. They are the company that copies another company's tech and sell it for cheaper. It's been that way ever since Gates swindled DOS and made a deal with IBM for it.

I don't get all the hooting & hollering. Do they give the employees a bonus if they can act more artificially excited than Steve Ballmer?

I would have enjoyed the cheering and high-five-ing at this event about as much as I enjoy when Chili's employees sing me their little birthday ditty. I know the Apple Stores do this infantile crap at their events, too, which is precisely why I've stopped lining up a couple hours before them. And I'm an above-average Apple fanboy, too. I dig sitting in line chatting with other Apple fans and getting the product seconds before anyone else and the cool free t-shirts. The cheering, however, I simply won't abide.

Wow they cloned an apple store!
Good job microsoft, your sooo cool now!

Man, Americans are fat. Microsoft fangirls and fanboys, doubly so. Instead of standing around, maybe these behemoths could walk around the mall a few hundred times.

Blue Screen Of Death!

do you guys remember those 3 Red Rings of Death on XBOX 360s displayed at stores? How many computers do you think in this store will see soon on display that has the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH! LMFAO! :p:D
I mean I already see them all the time at Best Buys and other store but to see them on a MS store, that will be hilarious, I can't wait for someone to get a pic of that. ha!

"Kuhl" Shop

Anyone thinks that they will also sell Macs with Bootcamp Windows 7 OEM installed?
After all Microsoft is a Software company, and if they sell a Mac plus Office for Mac they should already smile.

The only thing i would consider buying there is a table, they look ok. But unfortunately they are too big for my needs :D

What are all the panels on the wall for? should they distract the customers from the actual products until they payed and are out of the shop?

Wow, lose 4 years of work, less productive. Dont' think so. Ever hear of backups. I can usually find a workaround for any shortcomings in Apples new releases.
Backups aren't going to help. I don't see a reason for you to reply if you're not going to read my posts with the entire story.

I find Snow Leopard to be very innovative. UNIX Rules, Windows drools. Sorry just a little ad-lib.
I don't get it.

c'mon people, this is like comparing Walmart to Target, Best Buy to Circuit City, Lowe's to Home Depot. Who cares if they hired someone who used to work for apple? The point is, stores that are in the same market look similar...who cares who did it first, nobody is griping about how Lowe's is similar to Home Depot...maybe its because it is already a familiar atmosphere so people will more easily explore it? oh wow, maybe copying apple wasn't such a bad idea after all...

Everyone is bashing MS, but nobody is saying what they could have done to make it better than the apple store...stupid...apple created the stores originally, and now there is a competitor store...kinda like Lowe's to Home Depot, Target to Walmart, Gap and Old Navy...they're similar because of the market they're in.

Anyways, after all the bashing is done, what could MS have done to blow your socks off? nothing, cause we're all fanboys and refuse to see this from different perspectives

man, it is crisis, they are doing that cause they just got a job, not cause of microsoft.
I guess the 10% which were the most quiet will work there after the opening weekend, and the others have to continuing that hooting to get through propation period. somehow they have to demonstrate their skills ;)
