Whether you think Apple is innovative is not the least bit important. Apple certainly knows what people want. What new innovative product has Microsoft sold lately?

I heard that Microsoft is trying to manufacture a new line of vacuum cleaners and they promise "Our vacuum cleaners are guaranteed not to suck!"

Negative advertising

Negative advertising is the true sign you have nothing to say positive about your own product so your only avenue of attack is to say something negative about your competition.

Microsoft has continuously followed a mantra of "How can we solve this problem with Windows?" as opposed to "What is the best solution to this problem?"

It slays me that people are claiming doom for Apple because of the 5S and the 5c. Are the fricking blind? Ever since the iPhone was released there was a new model and then a refresh. Given the huge volumes they ship these days it is the only practical strategy that makes sense. The fact that the new 5S does not have a transporter, a Class 5 Laser Cannon and Tardis remote control built in I don't think qualifies it as a disaster.

Yes...I've been a bit concerned that since Steve's demise and Tim's take over of the company I think they have been slow to launch new products. That needs to change. Given that ANY product Apple or Samsung or any company of that magnitude most likely takes a minimum of 18 to 24 months to launch on a good day I would say let's see what 2014 looks like and let's see what 2014 5S and 5C volumes are. Let me venture a guess that they will be the most successful iPhones yet to date.

And what will the next Samsung phone be like... Ah.. lets guess. Rectangular, a tad bit better camera, a few more features, better battery life, nicer screen and probably a new OS from Google. So that's drop dead innovation and a 5S is not?

Correction. The lack of a built-in Tardis in the new iPhone 5S makes it a stunning disaster.... in the UK.

The "Tim" in the videos is clearly referring to Tim Cook. Why would anyone think the person with their back to the camera was portraying Steve Jobs?

Because it looks exactly like Steve Jobs and nothing like Tim Cook? When did they ever say Tim?

Na... I'm the Doctor and I have the ThinkGeek T-Shirt to prove it. K-9 says it's OK as long as he can talk to Siri. :)

I thought the promise would be:

Try our new range of Microsoft Vacuum Cleaners. Like our operating systems, they suck!

Some of it was funny and true.

Plus this just reminded me of the PC vs Mac commercials apple would come out with.

I don't really care.

Have you ever seen the "I'm a PC, I'm a Mac" commercials?

Ummm.. I have. They DIRECTLY showed strengths of OSX vs Windows (fewer viruses, easier hardware installation, ability to run both platforms, etc.).
These do NOT show anything about the Windows mobile OS at all.
So.......... did you have a point?!

i'm a complete @$$hole (says my ex-girlfriend), and even i think this video was in bad taste

Because Ms can't rely on their own brand recognition, their ads always need to compare to Apple. By doing so, they are actually helping Apple. But I'm not sure Ms is competent enough to figure that out. Besides, they can comment on plastic buttons and stuff, but I would love to see them have a nice clear offer on their phones. No software and always different versions around the world, depending on country and provider. Come on, these people can't even sell a Nokia phone properly :)

I love when they drop the 8 MP..."we have 41" line. So ALL of windows phones have 41 MP?

So, not only internet browser department of MS is full of retards ...

Haha, we already learned that from Games for Windows Live.

----------

He doesn't?

The ads were a bad attempt at humor, not a poke at a deceased man.

Agreed. It was completely unfunny overall and pretty rude and over the top sometimes, not because of the Tim Cook that resembles Steve Jobs. The "we're giving our customers the finger" part is especially bad.

Never mind the bad taste

Microsoft paid someone for that crappy video? The timing was completely off, the script was worst than what high school kids would come up with and the montage itself sucked too.

Apple should release an ad with this clip of Balmer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8To-6VIJZRE

And then end the last 10 seconds of the ad with something about Apple being an alternative to Microsoft.

To me, the videos look more like something an internal group did as a joke, with no intention of ever letting them out... but then somebody posted them anyway.

Copying Apple's approach would be the smartest thing Microsoft has done in years. They'll probably do what they've been doing since forever and simply laugh at Apple products. Who wants a $500 phone? He said...(Ballmer). Laughs at the iPad, he did...

You can ding Ballmer for a lot of things, but he was dead right that the majority of Americans would not pay $500 to $600 up front for a phone.

In fact, it was only two months later that Apple had to drop the iPhone price by 1/3 to prop up sales.

(Remember, when the iPhone came out, it was not subsidized.)

Samsung-Killing? You do realize this phone is irrelevant to anyone who actually desires a phone bigger then a 4" screen right?

Samsung Galaxy S4 and S3 still haven't outsold the iPhone 5. So if you base things off of sales, 4 inch screens have a larger appeal than larger screens. 5 or 6 folks on the forum whining about larger screens doesn't seem to affect Apple's bottom line.

Wow, something else Lame, who would have guessed?

These morons wouldn't know an original idea if it kicked them in the balls and handed them a million bucks.

There's one word that comes to mind when I think of MS....

"Beige"......

I'm guessing if you look at the parking lot at MS headquarters everyone is driving a beige car, wearing beige pants and white shirts, in beige offices, in a beige building..... OMG... how bloody boring can these people be in real life???

I'm gonna be blunt here, but really, all of you need to shut the eff up. It's not like Apple hasn't done this crap.

It's like constantly putting someone down and then getting offended when they turn around and do it to you.

Keep pushing Microsoft and I'll never buy another one of your products...

ever...

I had considered an Xbone but after all of the controversy... nah...

I had considered a Surface but after a poorly designed and executed roll out... nah...

I had considered a Nokia Phone but after you bought them... on second thought... nah...

Keep it up losers...

I could not have said it better...

Hey.... we don't make the rules. We just play for the winning team lol. They are always funnier coming from the bottom 4% of the market.

I'm probably alone here, but I think Apple deserves a kick in the pants- a little too much resting on laurels lately. And this is coming from someone who has every generation iPhone, was first to get Apple TV, MBA, iPad, etc.

The latest slew of anti-iPhone commercials from MS and Samsung-- it is about time they started fighting back. Think of the anti-MS ads apple ran over the years.

Maybe THIS will finally convince Tim Cook to really "double down" on secrecy and leaks as he said he was going to.... all these commercials had to have been created a while back-- some ads came out the morning of the Apple announcement. Perfect timing. And none of that would have been possible if there were no leaks.

Because it looks exactly like Steve Jobs and nothing like Tim Cook? When did they ever say Tim?

During the various vignettes there are two different people who occupy the chair's seat - neither look like Cook. When the two people who are facing the camera are wearing black shirts, the person sitting in the chair's seat looks very much like Steve Jobs. When the people facing the camera are wearing grey shirts the person in the chair's seat is referred to as "T" and Timbo" by the guy on the right. Some of the vignettes are no longer readily available...

I think you need to Go read your History. Apple has never had to "Prop Up" Sales of the iPhone...LMAO.
