I like Apple and I like their products but I hate this thread because I hate the fans.

I am primarily a Windows user so I find these comments offensive but the commentators don't care as they care about nothing but their own circle and Apple.

Everything companies do is stupid now. Apple's reality distortion and previous actions displayed in this video led to this.

This is the most irrational argument I've heard in a very, very, very long time.

Nice try though.

Care to elaborate? Point seems pretty sound. You ask people what they prefer. When you don't offer what they currently have as an option your responses are going to be shifted.

Did I say it sucked?

You said that the iPhone camera and hardware is behind, then, "When I look for a phone, I look for functionality and the best camera."

----------

Viruses are due to high market share. Virus makers profit more and have a larger effect by targeting the larger system, which was Windows.

There is a good amount of Mac software, just not a single Mac virus (at least not one that I've heard of) and very few malware in comparison. Why would real software makers but not malware *******s develop for Mac?

I'm glad they've pulled off the videos...

Mr. Gates and Mr. Jobs had a good friendship...
I bet Mr. Gates gave instructions in a board meeting to withdraw the videos in respect to the late Apple CEO.

I'd like to hear the about the employment status of the people that did the video ... Most likely they are active on dice.com and linkedin.com right now.

How quickly we forget about when Apple poked fun at microsoft not to long ago.

Yes, but this ad isn't exactly poking fun. "We're giving our customers the finger," and that strong implication that the iPhone 5S is secretly plastic isn't very admirable to say the least... and the 5S is not plastic. Plus portraying Apple, not their products but the company's people, as a bunch of retards is crazy for a blue chip company like MS.

And in the end, the ad only bashes Apple and doesn't even mention Microsoft. In fact, how would anyone know that this is even a Microsoft ad? Yeah, great job on the part of the MS marketing team, trying to send people away from Apple and most likely onto Google's products

You know something is wrong when a big company like that takes down its ad.

Because your argument is flawed, even if 10% of the people that had chosen 4" thought they had a 4" and not a 3.5" (which is an extremely generous number as most here are familiar with Apple thus coming to a site to find out the latest and greatest news) that number would still take from the 4" and thus 75% of the voters reflect wanting a bigger screen size, regardless if it's by .3 or 1.5, people would like to see bigger screens in their devices.

Like I stated before, it was not a scientific poll by any means. My point was proven and is still valid. It's not just 5-6 people wanting a bigger screen.

Nice try.

Great writeup!

You could take all those examples and turn them into bitesize 30 second chunks and make commercials for each great feature of Windows Phone.

Then there would finally be some commercials talking about Windows Phone.

Seriously... how does Microsoft think they can sell phones when all they do is talk about every other phone on the market?

Windows Phone is almost 3 years old... yet it's still a mystery to most people.

Seems to me the home page would quickly become so long it would take hours to scroll through it looking for a specific item.

'been waiting for this one...

Apple poked fun at a product, not at people,
Poked fun at a inferior real bad product, not at people that have passed away,
Poked fun with class, not at people's intellect
Poked fun with funny and well produced skits performed by professional comedians, not with sophomorics c- low rent cool-wanna-bees like these

The plastic comment was referring to the 5C not the 5S. They said Apple hid the fact that the 5C is plastic, but then moments later contradicted themselves by quoting Apple's "unapologetically plastic" statement... showing that Apple was not hiding anything... which is one of many of the idiotic things in this commercial. I don't know what Windows phones AREN'T plastic... so the entire point is silly.

It's the same reason why there are only three or four pieces of malware floating around on Linux. It's a platform mostly chosen by people who are at least a little computer savvy, and aren't as likely to screw up and allow a trojan to get onto their machine. Not only are you fishing in a smaller pond, but they're even less likely to get a bite there because most of the people using the platform know what the hooks look like.

Windows users represent everyone from the tech savvy professional all the way down to the grandma who's never used a computer before in their life. Not only does the platform represent a bigger target, but they're preying on a more naive userbase. The chances of a malware author getting hits there are exponentially greater.

isn't very admirable to say the least..

that's not an ad. (generally speaking, huge corporations don't make ads within 3 days of an idea- and this video didn't take 3 days to make either.. maybe an afternoon)
if youve paid attention the last few days you'll see what the video is:

those people read macrumors threads such as this:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1633954/

then went on to make fun of about 70% of the posters in that thread.. the video is in support of apple at the hater's expense. you see

i'm sure the people at microsoft like the new phone and have tons of respect for apple designers

Microsoft: "The video was intended to be a light-hearted poke at our friends from Cupertino. But it was off the mark, and we've decided to pull it down."

This is how you do a light-hearted poke that's actually funny:

Introducing Hide-a-Pod

You love your iPod. It’s a great product. You take it everywhere and you use it every day. But owning a device so desirable and fashionable as an iPod comes with one major drawback . . . the iPod has become a target for theft. So how can you take your iPod out of your home without fear?

Welcome to the Anti-Social
You made a smart choice in choosing an iPod. And now you can protect it from theft and still enjoy using it in public with the new Hide-a-Pod anti-theft case.

It’s really very simple. Just tell us what iPod model you want to protect and we provide a gutted and hinged Zune with our custom molded iPod casing adapter. We also include a custom cable from the Zune’s controls (see FAQ) and audio output jack that you simply plug into your iPod. No iPod modifications are necessary.

A debacle

This is a hideous embarrassment for Microsoft.

None of this would have happened if Steve Balmer were still alive.

oh.. so you do get the point of the videos after all.
#
The point being no point, yes. The commercials with Siri talking were a lot better than this garbage, but they had misleading info in that too, such as only 14-15 GB being useable on the 32 GB model. The OS and default apps take up a hefty chunk.

Like I stated before, we don't know what percent answered with that thought process. You say 10%? I say 90%. As educated as they may be, they assumed the top answer was the old screen size and so they picked the next. See any random percent can be justified.

Point is, the poll is worthless. Not scientific. Not semi-valid. Not anecdotal. Worthless.

You can argue that a larger iPhone would be popular. You can argue that some, or even many people what it. I just wouldn't recommend referencing that poll as evidence.

Well, the comment about it being secretly plastic was sandwiched between two comments on the 5S. They went from fingerprint sensing to plastic to gold. They never said "5C" in the part about the Apple not telling people that it's plastic.

No, Apple used a lot of words to describe plastic, which was the joke they were making... and they're right... it's just plastic... but they contradicted themselves. It's irrelevant where it was sandwiched between, both comments are in reference to the 5C.

The ad was on Microsoft's own Windows Phone YouTube channel, not a fan page or anything. If you take a look at it, there are still hate comments all over the channel.

But you're using your knowledge as someone who follows this stuff. You know ahead of time that the 5C is plastic and not the 5S. If you didn't know, and you saw this, you'd think that the 5S secretly is plastic if you were to believe MS.

They didn't even show a picture of the 5C, nothing. Just a comment with the only context being two comments about the 5S around it. It's comparable to showing a clip of some product then the next clip being a person saying "it sucks", and you'd assume that "it" is the last subject.

They probably figured, 'Hey screw it, Samsung is doing the same thing so why not?'. This one is a bit more personal though. Normally it might be funny, but ya gotta show that legend some respect as he isn't around anymore. This is pretty bad anyways... except the insanely cute gal wit glasses. She will be mine and I will make her love my Mac. I think Apple's last presentation was good too. The phones look clean and I think I might be ready for iOS7, though I ain't switching right away until the bugs are out

The Surface may not be popular - but the Surface Pro is better than the iPad, and let me explain.

Not that I hate Apple or the iPad, I say that their fans are the worst fans out there because they cannot say a single thing good about another company, but they don't stop there. They must berate other users for their choice in hardware, device, operating system, etc, which says more about the source of the hate than the person targeted of the hate. The Surface Pro has a dual core Intel Core i5 processor (1.7GHz), 4GB of RAM, a USB 3.0 port and a desktop operating system and is capable of playing the desktop versions of The Sims 3 for example. Apple released a 128GB iPad in response to the Surface Pro because there is a 128GB option for the Surface Pro.

It's all in the hardware, not the popularity of the device.

The Surface Pro is a full PC... running a full version of Microsoft Windows. And that's great for some people.

Up until a few years ago... in order to check your email or Facebook... most people had to use a Windows computer. And those machines had their own set of challenges. Slowdowns, malware, crapware on a brand new machine, expiring antivirus subscriptions, etc. Headaches. Most people were never fans of using Windows.

But one of the big reasons people love their iPad is... it's not Windows. It has none of those headaches.

Oh sure... the iPad not a full computer experience... but I'm not sure every person on Earth needs that.

For those who do need to run full Windows desktop programs on a thin device with a detachable keyboard... Surface Pro is amazing.

The iPad never attempted to do that... yet it has found its place in some people's lives.
