Who cares about icon designs? And I'll bet the next version of OSX will have a similar design language to iOS. There's only so much Apple engineers could accomplish in 7 months or so.
And for people that complain about iOS is the screen below really pleasing to the eye? Could you quickly glance at that screen and really get information from it? My eyes are darting all over the place not sure what to focus on.

This is going to to bring us back to Mac Vs PC…
But this time it's all about the mobile devices.
Microsoft will deliver phones and tablets that support word and spreadsheets, while Apple will revisit the cool and fun aspect of music, movies and games.
Glad I came to MacRumors today for this vital piece of Apple news!
I think Nokia should just go back to it's roots and return making winter tyres, rubber boots and communication/electrical cables.![]()

For me the problem has never been the phone or the OS. I was close to purchasing the Lumia 920 and really like Windows Phone OS. The problem for me is the app store. If i was Microsoft this would be my area of focus.
When the iPhone first came out it was nice but totally pointless. Then the app store came along and made it a device i couldn't live without. I would definitely consider a Nokia device once the app store has more than just angry birds (which i don't like anyways).
Oh no the ship is sinking, what should we do?
Quick, take on more cargo!
I really like it. No wasted space. No round corners. It makes sense on a small display.I must be one of the only ones who doesnt get the Tile thing. For me its just a messy collection of irregularly shaped icons.
So your saying he didn't get this box?
Image
I did a search and thats the only box I could see. Could not find the AT&T box he was referring to. But I did look at a few unboxings on youtube and this is the box I saw.

A massive difference there. Why would Nokia allow the carriers to totally butcher their nice enough box for that plain carrier crap for a box? No wonder people are hesitant to buy it? A nice box is like looking at your food. If it does not give a good first impression it will taint people's feelings as they use the device.
Microsoft need to insist that the Nokia phones have Nokia boxing and not carrier boxing. Yes it does matter.
Sure, there's some potential with the Microsoft-Nokia deal being the ticket to bring Microsoft some mobile mojo. But that's not the most important factor for success. All of this means squat if Microsoft cannot find a capable CEO to replace Ballmer.
In fact, the next CEO's job just got even more complex, more difficult, more demanding. He has some very big shoes to fill. The expectation will be extremely high for him to perform.
Too little, too late? There are two companies vertically integrating on the same platform. Google/Motorola integrates software and service development with phone assembly. Samsung integrates parts manufacturing and development as well as device assembly and marketing. This way Samsung phones will always have better parts at a lower price, compared to Motorola. And Motorola can't compete on price, because they would bleed money. So most people will never see the Motorola Nexus experience. Googles new services will only be propagated to the masses if also available on Samsung Galaxy. And there goes your competitive advantage. The most valuable parts of Android are for free. So they belong to Samsung already. However, Google is now just starting to integrate their purchase of Motorola.
And via AirDrop which as of today has two different icons on iOS 7 and OSX 10.8.Apple is integrating the two platforms via iCloud.
Its all about the cooperation of corporations. Its impressive how Apples we do everything ourselves approach stacks up against other more cooperative business models. There is one bit of intellectual property, Apple gave away for free, WebKit. And look how much influence Google gained with Chrome from exploiting it. Now Samsung is doing the same to them with free Android.Interesting times we are living in.
Geez lets see, probably one of the biggest mobile related stories this year, and given how important the mobile sector is to Apple, just maybe, this is big news.
Now had apple not had an iphone, I see where you are coming from.
Good one. I must be one of the only ones who doesnt get the Tile thing. For me its just a messy collection of irregularly shaped icons.
Lenovo's, Acer's, and Asus' sales grew by quite a bit last year. Yeah, the PC market shrunk 10-15% last year, but it's only really hurting the old mainstays: Dell and HP.
And I doubt MS will be giving up on their old Windows standards. I think that'll continue par for the course.
