I use Office for work stuff, but Numbers, Pages and Keynote for all my personal stuff. I like the latter better.

Anyway, I don't think I will attempt to download this on the 300 kbs connection I have here at the hotel that drops out occasionally. Think I will wait until I get home later this week to get this.

Interesting random feature: in PowerPoint, if the author's name happens to be French, the spellchecking language is set to French, regardless of the UI and OS language being US English. Bleh.
Haven't checked with other programs yet.

Maybe I should upgrade from 2008 to the 2011 version now. Is it really any better?

Oh, and don't tell me iWork. I do not like Pages/Keynote/whatever at all.

Do you mean you have actually met people that are totally happy. Really dam your lucky I have never met people in all my life that did not bitch about everything...take your pick they hate something of it even their own kids.

If you quote me, than please do it properly. And if you want to make a point, try to make it coherent, because you are not making sense at all. Lastly, loving or hating anyone's kids doesn't have anything to do with the reason why the ribbon in MS products is a flawed design.

MS chose not to support calDEV, so no support for google calendars :(

MS Office is BUSINESS software, and Google calendars is not necessarily what I would call a widely accepted and adopted business solution. What the typical Office customer wants is Sharepoint and Exchange Server integration.

(Project and Visio ports would also be more than welcome. OmniGraffle Pro is nice, but most hardcore Visio users either don't find it suitable or just are not comfortable with its different user interface.)

i hope they fixed the problem concerning the recovered file trash that always pop up in the trash bin after switching your mac back on again.:D

My pet peeve with Outlook calendar still hasn't been addressed. I start my workday at 6:30 AM and MS only allows you to start/end your day on the hour. It would be a simple fix to add the half hours to the pulldown setting (so it matches what is in Outlook 98, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2010) but they chose not to for some reason.

Messenger:Mac 8 update missing

Why on Earth didn't the Service Pack include an update to the buggy Messenger:Mac
This is so long overdue!!

That is helpful for syncing with itunes - but what about ical/outlook? Can I get outlook to sync with my 7 different calendars on ical?

Messenger updates are usually always separate. Also, keep in mind most businesses use OCS so Communicator would probably be the only program addressed with Service Packs.

In a LOT of people's mind, it's broken until they put support for Exchange 2003/WebDAV back in.

Why would they do that? Support for Exchange 2003 is going away. Microsoft gave a roadmap 5 years ago which showed companies when to start planning Exchange upgrades.

Doesn't work for me either. Turning to Time Machine now after messing up all of my calendars in the wasted time with this.:mad::mad::mad:

Yep. This so called and touted Outlook Calendar/iCal sync feature has been a huge FAIL. Simply does not work and there's a bit of noise about it growing on the www. What a huge failure in their testing department!!!

Does anybody know what happened to nadyne the Microsoft rep that used to hang around MacRumors and had good tips on how to solve certain issues with Office?
I urgently need to get the template support in PowerPoint working correctly...

It seems that her last post to the forum happened in October 2010...

She probably left this place. Why would anyone want to do business here when all people do is trash Microsoft.

My wife is from a professional management environment and is not very impressed with iWork, pages specifically. We are doing a trial of it and we are thinking of doing the same for Office 2011 but are wondering that if in trial mode, will we be able to access the update?

I tend to use all the office apps and go back and fourth depending on needs. The exception is PowerPoint for Windows, I don't use that very much.
