Yah, and sadly, in a year, that laptop will get slower and slower as the registry builds up.
It's not the registry - the registry is a database that scales well with size. Making the registry ten times larger doesn't slow it down noticeably for typical operations. (Doing a full scan takes longer, but that does not happen in normal operation.)
What slows a system down is downloading every little trinket and toolbar that you find on the web.
Look at a slow PC - how many icons are in the system tray, and does the owner even know what they do?
...it's been proven Vista runs better on Macs than most comparable PC hardware...
Please show us this proof, since it doesn't exist? If you find any case where it does, check that the systems are truly comparable.
As for Blu-Ray, I don't want nor need it in my Mac when I have a dedicated player hooked up to my HD projector.
If you have a MB(P), what do you do if you want to take one of your BD movies on a trip? Buy the DVD of it?
Oh oh, here he is, the pc troll.
...
- Vista 64 bits? Is that system that runs poorly 32 bits applications, does not run 32 bits drivers, and has therefore poor compatibility?
...says the Apple troll, repeating lies and FUD.
Vista 64-bit runs the vast majority of 32-bit apps fine, even quite old ones. I have Office 2000 installed on all of my Vista and Windows 7 x64 machines - no problems with the installer or the programs. (I also have Office 2007 and Office Live installed, but there are some tools in Office 2000 that I like.)
For a software or hardware product to get the "Vista" logo, it has to run on both x86 and x64 Vista. No doubt with buying new stuff - look for the Vista logo, and it will work on x64.
One weekend's Best Buy flyer had 11 Windows laptops, and 9 of them were x64 (because of 4 GiB of RAM).
You did know that Snow Leopard will require 64-bit drivers to run in 64-bit mode, right? That will be fun, it will break every 3rd party driver that exists... (Leopard is actually a 32-bit system, with the ability to run 64-bit apps. That's why it uses 32-bit drivers.)
Once again MS have put more money into advertising than fixing Vista.
Ummm, try repeating that when Windows 7 ships.
"that's too expensive"
what's wrong, didn't soccer mommy land a rich enough husband? these ads are stupid
Do you really think such patronizing and sexist thoughts, or was this meant to be funny?
Few realise how much the browser makes a difference.
Safari leaps along when ie6 is stalling at work.
Ummm. IE8 is the current release - hint, hint.
if Vista is so good why they don't they focus their advertising on it....
Wait for the Windows 7 ads, this CP+B campaign has a long term plan.
then the mac will have snow leapord don't forget that in fact SL will prob beat Win 7 to the market place
It's uncertain, and in any event it won't be a huge difference (unless 10.6 continues to slip).
i saw a review on win 7 the other day and it was being touted as XP all over again
What does this mean? Can you give us a link?
There are too many "facts" in these threads that start with "I read somewhere that..."
Haven't tried Vista - is it any good?
More people are using it than OSX, so it can't possibly be the "disaster" that the Mac vs. PC ads portray.
At this point, though, wait a short time for Windows 7.
