You're on MacRumors, you don't expect this at some point on a Microsoft post? I don't enjoy the bashing either, but it's clearly bound to happen.

Now that Apple has iWork for iPad, will they allow Microsoft's competing apps?
Their arbitrary and non-competitive approval process, is going to be one of the largest hindrances to the iPad. I certainly won't be buying one until I see some drastic changes in their approval philosophy.

But I thought Gates thought the iPad wouldn't take off ?
I think MS and Apple need to work closer because the new enemy is Google not MS.
They've been doing that for decades. Their relationship with Apple has always been complicated.
Good point how can Microsoft compete with the $10 price tag? ($30 total for all three)
If they had a quality version it would present nice bundling opportunities for them, and wcould help Apple sell the iPad to business.
What business is going buy an iPad?!
This would be awesome! It would definitely make it a big iPod Touch with bonus productivity tools for the Winblow$ users. Toss in exchange support too!
Too bad it would be priced at $89 or something ridiculous compared to $9.99 for the iWork components.

If you can't beat them, join them
What business is going buy an iPad?! The iPad is clearly advertised and aimed at games, videos, ebooks, and web surfing. Sure, there will likely be some "productivity" apps available for it but no business is going to give out iPads to its employees for work use.
Apple is using their hardware to cripple the software prices. $10 for iWorks is effectively saying that software is cheap, which ruins MS's business model.

The only business model I could see POSSIBLY rolling out an iPad (or any other similar tablet in the future) is the hospital industry...allowing nurses and doctors to carry around a single digital clipboard with all the information about the patients rather than carrying a few clipboards/paper folders as they do today. But given HIPAA and other regulatory compliance, the digital clipboard is years if not decades away from adoption.
