That article says they'll settle. And they are supplier and customer. So it makes sense to settle.
But the real question for me, is that now there is decent competition against AMD and Intel. We've wondered about Intels continual talk on Ultra etc., but its progress has been slow. Now there is more incentive to get going. Otherwise, who knows what might happen?
Concerning Apple and monopolies - IMO Apple would like to have a monopoly. They can't get one though, but at least, they try to monopolise their customers into having more than one Apple device. The Apple watch for instance could be setup without requiring an iPhone. I find that disappointing indeed. It's that philosophy of wanting to own a customer that I disagree with. I want customer focus. For instance, an iPad that can run all Apple OS software. And because of that attitude, I will likely get my wife's replacement computer something with a Qualcomm chip.
