Nintendo isn't likely to sell, it would have to be a hostile takeover...It's a must at this stage.
I'm sure Microsoft, Google, Amazon and even Facebook is eyeing it right now.

They can't really do that unless Sony agrees. The same for the rumored Sony service, they can’t put it on the Xbox unless Microsoft agrees to it.Gamepass is the main product of Xbox, not the hardware. MS will likely offer a gamepads subscription service for Playstation e.g pay £5-6/month for access to gamepads catalogue on PS5.
Sure, but they have to share 15-30% of the profits with developers. They also are missing a huge opportunity by not hyping up the iMac as a desktop gaming PC. No, it’s not as powerful as a home-built PC can be, but imagine if Apple itself made AAA games specifically to run on their devices. It would take time, but they could pave the way for Apple to become a major player in the AAA gaming market by showing what their machines are capable of doing. It just seems like a better investment than more mediocre Tom Hanks movies, IMO.Apple is heavily oriented around mobile gaming. Mobile gaming is now larger in terms of revenue than PC gaming and console gaming combined. How does that qualify as "ignoring" gaming? Apple is a big player in the largest segment of the industry as it currently exists.
Lol why? Nintendo is doing great now. It's a must at this stage.
I'm sure Microsoft, Google, Amazon and even Facebook (for Metaverse) are eyeing it right now.
I agree. They really appear to be targeting short session family friendly mobile games, not the full blown fps console games (Halo, call of duty, doom) that many of us wish we could have without buying a Xbox/PlayStation console. If Apple really wanted in on the gaming world, they’d make an aquisition like this.
Except not all Apple Arcade games are available on all devices. That "promise" was never realized as Apple quietly relaxed the requirement of developers.Look at Apple Arcade: one of the primary points is for the games to be available across ALL of Apple's devices.
I thought Apple should have ponied up some money for Sony Studios before Sony got their act together. Now Sony is starting to do well with hits like Jumanji and Spider-Man, which could have been Apple’s own movies franchises. Honestly, they really aren’t even serious competitors in streaming at this point.Apple's problem, in both TV and gaming, is that it cannot compete seriously without heavy investment in IP.
that i agree with, i remember at one point MS selling xbox at a loss just to get marketshare.I think Microsoft isn't worried about Sony here, or Xbox sales.
They are playing a bigger game, its for the Windows platform to be remain relevant and dominant
Google keeps growing it's share in the PC market with ChromeOS, and so is Apple with M1 success.
But with more games being exclusive to Windows OS, competitors have less power to attracts PC gamers, and have them loyal to their services and eco-system.
Because if consumers are anything like me. they will buy an Xbox to have access to titles they want if they are Xbox exclusive. and by extension if I have an Xbox I am likely to buy game pass and other Microsoft games. While I understand that concept at first glance... I have a question.
Why would a studio/publisher want to cut their addressable market in half?
Actually it's more than half... since there are more Playstations out in the world than XBoxen.
?
Is this an out of season April Fool’s joke?Holy moly, I thought this was an April Fool's joke. Never would have imagined this one happening.
Apple keeps missing the boat. There will be no game dev houses left to buy and M1 Max Macbook Pro gamers will be playing nothing but phone games forever. Can anyone seriously compare Apple Arcade to Game Pass and not laugh their ass off?
Electronic Arts for half the price. Good catalogue. That would help establish some competitive alternative to the Microsoft hegemony in gaming.
Huge news but nothing to do with apple. Xbox players win here as all games will go to game pass.
As long as the PC doesn't get shut out from future releases, this is whatever (don't have an XBox or any other consoles). ?♂️
The problem is, there's a vocal segment of Apple users who value exclusivity to the platform over content. I do everything on Macs and iOS devices—except game. I vote with my wallet. I think mobile gaming, dominated by boring match 3 mechanics and games with limited depth and effort, is a waste of my limited gaming time. I won't spend money on games for any Apple device, putting that money into Game Pass for my Series X.I agree. They really appear to be targeting short session family friendly mobile games, not the full blown fps console games (Halo, call of duty, doom) that many of us wish we could have without buying a Xbox/PlayStation console.
It is what it is.
There is EA Play for Playstation. It won't be long before MS offers a similar bundle of Xbox owned games for Playstation. It will be in the best interest of Playstation gamers. Sony might resist/object but will inevitably have to allow an Xbox branded subscription in its play store. They can't really do that unless Sony agrees. The same for the rumored Sony service, they can’t put it on the Xbox unless Microsoft agrees to it.
Now Apple will have to buy Nintendo. ?![]()
If they weren't in a pissing match with Epic, they should be trying to get Rocket League Sideswipe on Apple TV.I agree. They really appear to be targeting short session family friendly mobile games, not the full blown fps console games (Halo, call of duty, doom) that many of us wish we could have without buying a Xbox/PlayStation console.

This canard needs to die. Bungie had a fraught relationship with Apple and Apple's disinterest in gaming, even back then, was writing on the wall to developers like Bungie that their growth and ambition would be capped if they were exclusive to a capricious-at-best partner. Being bought by Microsoft was the best thing to happen to Bungie and elevated them from indie darling to AAA studio overnight.bungie used to be a big mac games developer. When Microsoft bought Bungie, that was the end of it. Blizzard was one of the very few remaining AAA game studios working on the Mac. I have a feeling it won't be for long.
Bungie is independent now....bungie used to be a big mac games developer. When Microsoft bought Bungie, that was the end of it. Blizzard was one of the very few remaining AAA game studios working on the Mac. I have a feeling it won't be for long.
