Of course, it's the PHUNE.
Inspector Cleauseau will promote it with the tag line: Somebody get the PHUNE!

I voted positive for this. Know why? Cause it'll be another chance for MS to make themselves look incredibly stupid.

Whatever it is, it'll probably be brown.

I vote for the brown Microsoft HDTV - you have to have a subsciption just for your remote to turn it on.

Coming with:

Home - broadcast only $129/month
Premium - standard cable access through comcast $199/month
Ultimate - expanded cable access through comcast $279/month
and of course - Xscream - all the above incl. DVR functionality $499/month

technical support - extra.

I predict it will be the classic MS move: preannounce a vaporware product that will be "released real soon now... honest" intended to steal the thunder of another product that scares them. In this case, the iPhone is the obvious device they will target and I'm sure they're going to try to hype up some Zune-based phonestrosity to scare all the business buyers away from Apple.

It's described as "something totally new coming out of the Entertainment and Devices division, and it's going to change the way people interact with technology" and "you really have to see it to believe it."

something totally new and we'll have to see it to believe it? will it be a microsoft product that actually works? that'd be something we'd have to see to believe and it'd be something totally new....

It is sad that less than two weeks to WWDC, and the news highlights on a Tuesday no less are new products rumors from MS and Palm, especially after the slow start that Apple has had this year.
In case you missed it.

iPhone announced - great!
AppleTV reannounced - shipping when, ok still great!
Airport Extreme N - pretty good.
Colored Shuffles - really who cares!
8-Core Mac Pros - but no new SS chipset.
& MacBooks with RAM and speed bumps only - less interesting than the lame Mac Pro update.

iMacs?
MacBook Pros?
Minis?

hello Apple. 2007 it's only the beginning of what?

and oh yeah, if you're not tired of waiting yet, Leopard delayed till Oct, probably iLife and iWork too.

I'm thinking it a portable gaming system to compete with the PSP and DS, they said the Zune name wouldn't just be for the MP3 player...

So, im guessing some sort of Zune/Xbox portable...

2007 will be a great year for the Mac.

As for MS, I am setting my expectations low due to their dismal track record of failures this century. So I may be nicely surprised.

I'm more interested in the Palm story.

Thanks for posting an actual prediction/guess. Gaming stuff is always cool, no matter who releases it. M$ sucks, but I still love my xbox. I'm rooting for fun & games. That wouldn't necessarily steal the iTV and iPhone spotlight.

No, you have to get them with Zune Points...

Clearly, its the next OS, they don't want to push back the first delay too long.

The device Microsoft will unveil will likely be a Multi-touch Zune like device. Similar to the iPhone, but Microsoft like. It's currently not known if the device will be a phone, or just a new model Zune.
