The kickstand still makes it entirely impractical to use on a lap, unlike, y’know, a laptop.

People that say that have never used one. Tent structure is inherently more stable than teeter totter clamshell. Surface form factor is the future with versatility to transform from 1.7# tablet to 2.3# laptop with touch and pen inputs. Like with Apple being forced to move to phablets they eventually will have to answer with a Surface type form factor. Never going back to relic clamshell maybe unless it's super lightweight like 2# Thinkpad X1 Nano.

4) Hard drive is not user removable. Hard drive is only removable by skilled technician following Microsoft provided instructions.

Also it only says that the ssd is "removable" (for data security reasons) not replaceable.

It's not for nubs. Anyone with common sense can upgrade it like on the Surface Pro X.

I spent one week on a Surface during the time I sent back my MacBook Pro to repair my butterfly keyboard, dam this thing run windows!

Having used the iPP with a keyboard, I can say that using your finger to scroll on a laptop screen is completely natural. I've caught myself lots of times trying to touch my MBP screen.

It actually makes the illusion of direct manipulation more real...although it's unclear if that's one of Apple's UI goals anymore.

It's not bad that Apple doesn't do it, but their rationale for not doing it is sort of bogus.

More importantly, a touchscreen allows for marking up during a video presentation, which is also surprisingly convenient.

The only thing I’m envious of is pen support—not touch and not the detachable keyboard (I prefer convertible). Oh and it has the applications I need, but that will even out eventually, and until then I’ll stick with my Intel Mac laptop.

The kickstand would be cool for the iPad Pro maybe.
Firstly, why they didn't compare with a iPad Pro...?

That’s interesting. I remember watching several review videos where Microsoft lovers really wanted to like it, but couldn’t. They found using on the lap unbearable.

I would probably have given the Surface video a thumbs up before however I’ve had issues with my 2010! iMac with it nigh slowing to a crawl. Also issues with iMovie 11. Both related to age. 11;year old computer! I rang Apple about six times in total and over all I have to admit their patience and assistance for way obsolete machine was impressive. Bottom line. It’s had its day but I got the thing up and running again and it’s zipping along as before tho Sierra will always be the ultimate OS. One of the advisor guys from Ireland spent two days getting a iMovie workaround and advised sticking with the iMac as long as possible if it works. Get the new design M chip version basically. Up to this point I was going to go back to a PC again. But what price can you put in customer service? So. Now I’m await the iMac silicon. Thanksto that guy’s honesty, Apple will get another big sale. I never thought I would be saying that three months ago since the problem was resolved. For now. Apple Don’t do value for features. However the M chips are excellent value andnthe after sales incomparable. My only gripe is Apple greed and laziness in producing instead of updating. The Steve Jobs innovation years are gone. But if the promised new iMacs do come out this year, I’ll be there confident I’m getting the backup in reliability, service and performance as I have done a decade ago. (Did I REALLY write that, readers?)

It's literally a 10 second process. Pop off the cover, swap ssd, replace cover.

I mean, if you don’t like iOS/macOS I suppose it would be the better choice
But I honestly don’t see much more in the ad than that
